  • Greggs to launch fish finger sandwiches in the North East on May 23.
  • Limited to 10 locations initially, with plans to expand to 20 in June.
  • Fans praise the new addition, calling it "banging."

Greggs has announced the addition of a beloved British classic to its menu: fish finger sandwiches. For the next month, these sandwiches will only be available at ten select locations in the North East starting Thursday, May 23.

The fish finger sandwich features lightly battered cod fillet fish fingers paired with iceberg lettuce on a soft corned-topped roll, served with either tomato ketchup (468 calories) or mayonnaise (516 calories). Additionally, a fish finger wrap with mixed leaves, cucumber, and mayonnaise will be available for £3.70 (509 calories).

Excitement is already building, with fans taking to social media to express their enthusiasm. One fan declared, “Bet these are banging,” while another described the new offering as “an actual dream.” Some are even requesting the sandwiches be brought to Australia.

However, availability is currently limited to just ten locations, including Gateshead’s Trinity Square and Newcastle’s Sandy Lane Drive Thru. Greggs plans to extend the trial to ten more sites in June, with a potential nationwide rollout in the future.

According to Emma Lake at The Sun, the new fish finger range will be part of Greggs’ hot sandwich deal, which includes southern fried potato wedges or a side salad and a cold drink from £4.95. This addition follows the recent launch of Greggs' summer range, which features items like chicken pesto flatbread and vegan Mexican chicken-free bake.

Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented, "Greggs' introduction of the fish finger sandwich is a great move, tapping into a classic favorite with their unique twist. Fans in the North East are in for a treat."

Not one bit impressed with Greggs copying McDonald, KFC and cheap takeaways outlets who charges £1-2 less including fries. I am getting a bit annoyed with Greggs moving away from its tradition of bakery food - sweet and savoury.

Who doesn’t love a fishfinger sandwich, I know I do but don’t think Greggs would be my 1st choice for going to for 1. There known for baked goods, sausage rolls, pies etc. it’s bit like pizza shop selling sausage rolls, you wouldn’t think of buying it from them either. Will just have to wait and see

It's bloomin' favouritism! What's wrong with bringing it countrywide? I have mine with salad cream, can't stand mayo 🤮
