Avoid Disney+'s Upcoming Price Hike: Increasing from £7.99 to £10.99 a Month!

Hello Deal Hunters! Just got wind of a major change coming to Disney+: they're adjusting their subscription prices and launching new plans, but you don't necessarily have to fork out more.

As of now, Disney+ charges £7.99 monthly or £79.90 if you're committing for the full year. But, come November 1, they're rolling out a pair of fresh subscription options: a cheaper one peppered with ads and a pricier ad-free variant.

Here's the lowdown:

  1. Disney+ standard (with ads): £4.99 monthly
  2. Disney+ standard (without ads): £7.99 monthly (or bag the annual deal at £79.90)
  3. Disney+ premium (no ads): It's a jump to £10.99 per month or £109.90 annually.

Heads up: If you're already a Disney+ subscriber, they'll automatically bump you to the "premium" package unless you decide to opt for one of the more wallet-friendly choices. The changes will kick in around your next billing cycle after December 6.

Why would you consider the premium? It's not just about dodging ads. With this package, you can bask in 4K UHD and HDR visuals, coupled with the immersive Dolby Atmos sound. Plus, the number of devices you can concurrently stream on doubles from two to four. But hey, if Full HD 1080p works for you, the standard plan should suffice.

Jan Koeppen, who's at the helm of The Walt Disney Company EMEA, says this ad-inclusive approach represents Disney+'s "next evolution" in the UK. They're pitching it as a win-win for consumers seeking choice and advertisers hunting for prime real estate.

This isn't their first rodeo with price hikes. Back in 2021, monthly prices swelled from £5.99 to £7.99, while the yearly rate rose from £59.99 to £79.90.

Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk (me), comments: "While price changes are inevitable in the ever-evolving streaming landscape, it's essential for consumers to be informed and proactive. With new plans come new decisions, so assess what's best for your viewing habits and budget."
