There Have Been 10 Topics on This in Two Weeks!
Other
Masks!!!
Yes, just enough variation to not be exactly the same but masks nonetheless.
There are also loads of very similar topics with just enough of a subtle tweak to not be considered duplicate.
Do you think this would be the case if points were not given for starting a topic, only for commenting and likes?
Yes, I know this has been discussed before but it is getting so much worse.
Lynibis How much more can anyone say about masks? Colour - pink v black? Fastenings - elastic v ties? I agree take the points away for starting a chat, an awful lot of chats get started with a question and no opinion or further comment from OP.
I think LD is a bit blinkered on this one. Fear of backlash at taking away points? But as has been suggested before if the topic gets 5 (?) or so comments then gets the points, no loss of points for genuine posters but hopefully an end to duplicates, boring and versus type chats.
It would certainly pull up those who post and not return.
No other chat forums get rewards, but still flourish, mumsnet, gransnet et al.
Lynibis I've decided if the OP asks a question 'this v that' or 'what would you do' and doesn't say what they prefer I'm not going to engage, even if I think it's interesting.
Sanitation1234 I will read the topic but I am useless at stuff like that and always defer to my daughter in law who used to be a travel agent. I have only ever been to a couple of theme parks as I don't really enjoy them.
Lynibis If LD did not give points for "starting a chat" there couldn't be any backlash when they take away points when removing a duplicate topic.
I really like the chat section on here It is my favorite bit of the site. But to be honest Ive read some of the pointless topics and don’t bother even clicking into them as they are getting so repetitive and some are down right nonsense in my opinion, especially when they ask a question and give no feedback whatsoever. Where as before they were mostly interesting and for me educational and I have learnt a few things by reading comments from other members. I agree with you if the points were to be removed we would get the genuine interesting topics again.
Me too, first place I look when I go on LD. An interesting topic can be in top 10 before bed and next morning it is buried on page 2 and most members have not had a chance to see it.
I must admit I do feel quite annoyed when people do not reply on their own topics, it is rather rude. You wouldn't do that talking to someone in person. It is not possible to answer every single comment on a popular post but a couple would show willing and you get more points!
Lynibis I've lost interest in the section (perhaps I just need a break) I take your point about not being awarded points until 5 or more comments on it but what about the poster who gives their own opinion in the title and never comes back ..........or maybe once? There has to be a conversation between the poster and the members who have taken their time to get involved.
Yes, I agree as above, and it seems many folk feel the same way. I often tell myself not to bother with chat anymore, but always find my way back. I think 4 days away is longest I have managed!
Lynibis I seriously think I need a break! I'm getting beyond irritable with the mindless topics. I've always been able to hold my tongue and not say what I think but I'm finding it increasingly difficult......and that's not nice. I stick to a couple of threads and enjoy them but I'm not getting all the tags so I'm probably missing the best ones.
angemski you do seem to be fighting a battle on two fronts. But you are certainly not alone in the irritability factor! I find myself 'biting my tongue' constantly. I am always rewriting and editing.
I always comment on one person's topics that are usually interesting but I have never had one single reply. I must have offended at some time or not agreed with something. We all have our own opinions but I always try to see another viewpoint.
This ain’t the only section I think getting abused by gaining points. The new write a review whice they can make 300 points per day on. That’s the highest I have maybe done about 6 reviews since it started because i have used them. Maybe they could have decided to take points from chats and gave them the option to earn even more then they can by topics.
angemski yeah there is under list of retailers click whice one first one is amazon and on top there are 5 stars there you able to read reviews
Why bother is my case in point. Talking of points... I think there are a lot of people who are guilty of just using this chat area for ramping up their points. I am seriously going to have to stick to the freebie and competition page for comments. It's a shame the more dubious pages are not just auto-deleted. I have said it many times, but I think it brings down the reputation of the Latest Deals website who have been marvellous all-round for so many bargain hunters...
Xx
Couldn't have put it better myself - guess it's become worse during our isolated state. I can't handle the sarcasm, controlling preaching, the sanctimony or the laziness. I'm off for a break. xx
I have lost count at the number of lockdown related topics being posted on here over the last few months. I am quite frankly tried of hearing that word.
I think I have just seen what pre-empted your comment and I agree. It is so so obvious when folk 'post for points' and any old thing will do. You can definitely see the difference between those that post with something to say or share, and those who post any old thing.
There were two posts within about ten days same subject but a bit of an addition on one, but it was not considered a duplicate.
