I was 27 and working in the West End in London. I remember watching the images playback from the CNN news channel. Horrendous. My partner worked for Cantor Fitzgerald at the time and he lost a lot of his colleagues in the tower. 658 employees out of 960 were killed.

I was just back from holidays with friends and was starting uni that week, so I was alone in my flat crying

It’s hard to believe it was nineteen years ago. I remember being glued to the tv watching it all unfold. I am sorry you and your partner lost colleagues. Today must be hard for you both.

I visited the site, and the memorial museum last year, very emotional and thought provoking.

I was on a train to Cardiff and was listening to the radio when the news came through.

There were a couple of NY Americans on the same train close to me so I relayed it to them and they got a bit stressed.

I don't know whether I should have shut my face to be honest because they didn't have a news source available to them and didn't know what was going on.

I was in school I'm assuming I was playing at the time.. I don't have any memories of it. But it's chilling to watch the footages on TV

I'd done a 12 hour nightshift and cycled home about 7 miles getting to bed about 7.30am. I think I got up maybe 3-4pm approx and it was all over the news, I think the first tower had just been hit and I was watching it all unfold live. I think it was a week where I was doing 5 shifts, I normally did 4 shifts so had to be ready for work again to cycle to work by 6.15pm but it was hard to leave the TV. The biggest news event that I have lived through. Every conversation at work pretty much was 9-11 related unless it was about the work itself of course. I think on the long ride in to work, my mind was focused on the two towers and the other attacks. The world seemed a little less safe and sane.

I was 9 at the time. Just got back from school when I first heard about it on the news. So sad and may all the victims rest in eternal peace. x

I had a phone call from a friend as i was off work at the time telling me a plane had gone into the tower. I switched the tv on to see the tower burning then saw a plane go in, im relying this to my friend on the phone then we both realise id just seen the second plane crash into the second tower. Was a strange day and the world hasn't been the same since

I remember the footage. For me It was a training day and, for some unrelated incident, it was cancelled so I was at home. I watched the horror as it happened with disbelief. It was a JFK moment that can't be erased.

I was 18, home alone with my son who was just a baby. I watched the whole thing unfold in total disbelief. I always remember watching the second plane hit & knowing with absolute certainty then it was no accident.
