1977 Fiat is One of the Uks' Rarest Cars

In the News

Who would have thought it

It makes me wish i had kept the heinkel bubblecar my dad bought me to restore when i was younger, it would have been worth something now

I think it's because they weren't that reliable, or was that just mine 🙂

I remember the Lancia cars that used to be rusting in showrooms they were so poorly made and it pretty much destroyed them in the UK and left the market. While watching youtube without an adblocker working I get bombarded with Alfa Romeo adverts but there is zero chance I would ever buy such a car. I like quality engineering in a car so tend to go for Japanese cars if I can especially those manufactured in the UK like the Toyota Corolla. The whole idea of owning an italian car and all the problems that would throw up doesn't appeal at all.

The Lada's and Poliski Fiats were if anything better than the Fiats they were based on when it comes to rust-proofing. Ok the engineering was more agricultural but I think I'd rather have one of those than a Fiat especially of that age.

Saying that Fiat reliability is better than many marques today but then I guess that is because they mainly sell small or cheap cars in the UK which aren't too complicated.

They did have problems with the fiat 500 going up hills as late as 2014 though

Wasn’t this shape taken over by Zastava in the 80s/90s. Was still rubbish though.

One car from the fiat range i wont knock is the mirafiori 131

I remember touring europe in it in the late 80s , 4 of us with loads of camping gear on the roofrack

It never let me down and got us back home safely

My other half has a 'collection' of retro (80s) cars which he loves dearly! Mostly projects on the go but he wont sell any of them. Cant understand why he cant just have one 😆

Well going on this article P, any one of them could become a more valued collectable, you never know

TerenceMealing I know one of them (Renault 5 GT turbo) is very sought after and they go for ridiculous money. His escort RS Turbo is highly priced too! Along with other projects he has I dread to think how much all together!
