£20 a Week for Shopping
Other
This girl only paid £20 or less for her food shopping she gets discounts for everything she buys by going to the shop at certain times & look for yellow sticks deals
Recently she picked up a TooGoodToGo vegan box which only cost her £10. She got apples, oranges, kiwi fruits, pears, a melon, peaches, plums, blueberries, grapes, tomatoes, cucumber, aubergine, broccoli, leeks, pak choi, spring onions, potatoes, soya milk, flour
In the supermarket you’ll usually be able to find a specific reduced area - usually the chilled items will be at the bottom of a fridge and the ambient
she can't even begin to imagine how much she's saved from yellow sticker deals.
But every week she has gone from spending £90 a week on groceries for two people to just £20.
Dinner turns out to be £1 or less per head she never has any food waste if she can help it Extra vegetables go into curries, pies & stews, and anything that can be frozen goes straight into the freezer.
If she really can't use something she will offer it to her family and friends.
She usually base dinner plans around whatever amazing bargains she found that day, also stocking up on essentials like rice she usually is able to live off bargains alone - this even includes snacks and desserts.
Bargains such as a stack of galaxy vegan chocolate reduce from £3 to 75p
Plant based no - pepperoni pizza for 25p was £2.50
Vegan mozzarella stick for £1.75 was £2.20
She's also found veggie burgers for 15p instead of £1.50, ice cream cones reduced to 30p from £2 & vanilla ice cream for 8p instead of 80p.
Sge recommend not being scared to ask your local shops when they put their yellow stickers out, &. don’t be disheartened if you go 1 day & find nothing,""It’s definitely a game of luck, but more times than not it’ll pay off & when it does you’ll feel so good. Also check as many shops as possible
She also has a account, on instagram @GrilledSheeze. That she shares her discount groceries haul

What amazes me is that prior to starting looking for reduced price food she was spending £90 a week for two. I spend much less than that a month but just for one. I eat quite well and wonder how people can spend that much. I shop at Aldi who have very few price reductions.
I did read that the average family throws away about £10 worth of food every week. Perhaps that's the reason.
davidstockport we spend about £90 a week for 2 adults and a toddler. My fiancé is on a muscle bulking meal plan so we have to buy a lot of chicken, salmon, eggs and high protein yoghurt. Lots of fruit and veg too.
We try to limit processed foods and what I find is that a lot of the reduced food that people are getting ‘bargains’ on are foods that we don’t consider healthy.
snoogans888 Thanks that confirms what I said, if two adults AND a toddler (on a healthy and specialised diet) spend £90 why should those without the toddler have needed to do so. Some of the things bought NOW does suggest the diet isn't too good.
I agree about the £90 per week previously ..... I guess I do similarly to her ... but I save on fuel ....I wander out to the garden ..... or scout around and check fridge and freezer (with already frozen sides from left overs ..... and that's how we often (not always) can eat for £1 or less per head ...
BORDERJOE Got to remember Kathy that even those things that come out of freezer did cost money before they went in. I maintain that even buying things fresh it is easy enough to spend less than £1 a head and have a good cooked meal.
Tomorrow I'll probably be having a garlic and herb chicken kiev (60p) chips or baked potato (less than 11p) and peas (from frozen less than 5p). And probably a Cornetto type ice cream cone as sweet (under 20p). That tots up to less than 96 pence.
Need to learn how to do this. I have three lions ( teenagers) at home, a cat, a fish two guinea pigs plus myself and it’s a struggle every week to stay within the budget.
I love learning the techniques people use on here. I can't resist a bargain and have learnt a lot since joining latest deals.
That's what I love about the LD site ...I pick up so many tips and ideas ....It's brilliant.
That's good but I'm not a vegan so yeah I do get some yellow stickers on meats sometimes and we spend 50 a week of food but I don't think that's bad for a family of 4
This nothing new, I have been doing it for years. Years ago before the Internet I used to cut out money off vouchers from the newspapers and hand them in to get money off. Nothing new you think. But back then you didn’t have to buy what was on the coupon, the stores just took them.
This is how I shop. Every day is a Ready Steady Cook day for us. We also use cashback apps to get free groceries. I believe our lovely Tom started by living on ys food for a year.
Love this,I love a bargain and have managed to save a bit of money on groceries buying reduced items.I do like cooking from scratch,I find that saves money in the long run, family of four and pets to care for,so every little helps...plus my son raids the cupboards x
"Bargains such as a stack of galaxy vegan chocolate reduce from £3 to 75p" That's some saving (sarcasm). I checked they are 100g.
If she'd gone to Aldi (or some other stores) she could have got 100g blocks of chocolate (milk or plain) for 30p.
Just shows how people are conned by brand names or think the reduced price from an exorbitant price is a bargain.
Please don't mention "quality" if you haven't tasted the chocolate from Aldi. A friend of mine I gave a block to was astonished and now prefers it to the branded expensive stuff. And don't think being Vegan should make chocolate more expensive - the things missing from Vegan food should make it cheaper. Which does make me think that many Vegans aren't right in the head - if they think they should pay more for their food.
davidstockport Aldi chocolate is lovely. I once gave my husband a selection for his birthday. He was like a pig in s**t!
Grannyclock I'm glad you and your husband agree, I sometimes think that many people wrongly think that the more they pay for a thing the better it is.
It isn't just with food either the people who pay extra for tattered jeans amaze me, if only they realised that they could find discarded jeans in bins, drag them round for a few miles tied to their cars, they could save a fortune.
What a crazy world we're living in
This is absolutely great I noticed if you go into the supermarkets like say an hour before closing time they will have certain foods such as bread and potatoes for much cheaper.
For 2 of us we spend 30 per week on food, we make everything and freeze it, and only buy reduced stuff, we swap with neighbours too it's fun
This is absolutely great wish my shopping cost that much thats what most of our money goes on food my shopping is normally over £100 a week thats 3 adults
This type of story always amuses me, headlines always look great, but don't take into account any cleaning products, health and beauty products, drinks or store cupboard basic items, all that have to be paid for on top.
