Do you live on an unadopted road ?

Ask a Question

27 People face £250,000 Bill to repair Potholes in their road!

I didn't realise how expensive road repair was, it will definitely make me think twice about buying on an unadopted road, if you are faced with these costs.

This road has become so bad, with over 30 potholes one of them 25 cm deep, that people regularly get stuck. Residents are worried that the local council will stop collecting refuge because it is so dangerous.

I've not heard the term un-adopted before but I know some people live on property that has a private road so they are liable for repairs. A bit like flats that don't have the freehold on the property so have to pay maintenance charges on the land etc.

To get into that state they must have been ignoring the issue for years, you would have thought they would have filled the holes with gravel at the very least.

Why don't they club together and pay a private builder or the like to do it? Or is that the cost privately? If so it is a total rip off and cannot possibly cost that much.

It will be the cost of having it done privately, the cost will depend on how long the unadopted road actually is. That shown will just be part of the road and looks as if simple filling of the pot holes and resurfacing will not be enough.

We have lots of unadopted roads in our area. One nearby estate has volunteer work parties with tar to fill in the roadways. Like everything, clubbing together for repairs doesn't get unanimous support so many roads go for years getting worse and worse (and more expensive to rectify)
