£28 Cauliflower Steaks

Other

ok, so you get two Cauliflower steaks for £28 - but that is still £14 each!

I know, right? I know the cost of cauliflower can go up, but to charge that much? it just sounds like the pub owners will be throwing them away if people don't buy them

hspexy when I read it I thought they grind the cauliflower and mix it with egg and spices and make a slice, but noooooo just a slice of the veg...

AgnesFaludi yes, they have done nothing to it, which is ridiculous. It reminds me of a time when I was veggie and at a burger restaurant, and when I asked if they had a veggie burger, they said they had a mushroom burger. So I thought I would get a burger Pattie made out of mushrooms, herbed and seasoned. But no, out came a bit fat portobello mushroom, sandwiched between the buns, and couple of tomatoes and lettuce. It was so not worth the $10-$15 I was charged

hspexy I mean from 28pounds u can get 3.5kg beef and that is a lot of beef steak...I just can not even imagine how cauliflower can be in one league with the real meat...has completely different nutrition value....and vitamins

AgnesFaludi I think the pub owners thought that they could milk it, as that was roughly what they charged for the Angus steaks. They are definitely on different levels of nutritional value, and I would be miffed if my hard earned cash was spent on a big chunk of cauliflower for a meal

AgnesFaludi I would sooner go to a steak house and have a fillet for less than £25 with all the trimmings!

I'll be growing cauliflowers this year along with runner beans, tomatoes, potatoes, various herbs, lettuce, etc. I bought the seeds reduced after summer so these were less than £1 a pack. I think it will work out a lot cheaper by buying cauliflower steaks!

Me too. Can't believe how much money the one wanted to make from charging cauliflower at that rate. If anyone paid that, they obviously have more money than sense!

this looks more like a joke from the owner of the place due to increasing number of vegans, there is no value for money is it?

lol perhaps - a big dig at veganism, and the amount of commercialism that is around it. It certainly has generated a lot of pub-licity for it 😜

That is ridiculous! I totally agree with all the comments above. Who in their right mind would pay that?!
