2M to 1M + Pubs, Restaurants, Cinemas & Hairdressers to Open from 4th July

In the News

Image

Just seen Boris announcing these changes to Lock down with effect from 4th July. 2 metre distancing reduced to 1m and pubs, restaurants, cinemas and hairdressers to open too. Plus, people can meet indoors at 1 metre apart as long as only 2 groups at a time and you can stay over too.

Do you welcome these changes? They don't affect me as I live in Wales

Germany done the same and their infection rate is now 1.79-2.88

Have a feeling second wave will be timed to December when is the transition period finishes, BREXIT....and it will beautifully covers up the hit on the economy.

Let`s be honest if there is 1 metre between us in a closed place and someone cough in the air...everyone will get infected. In Korea they linked 150 people to one person. Scientist keep telling if the rules change we should wear mask.

But there is one way out of it...test, test, test and test everyone....make a rapid test and sell it cheap and get tested everyone and than the tracking app will work better too...what we getting now from google...

I think we need the minimum of 2 metre if we do not want mask on and the air is not disinfected.

It is a scientifically fact that masks are not really fit for purpose. I have not worn or made a mask. But then I am not getting the tube right now or getting that close to anybody.

I am keeping my distance for a while as I do think there will be regional spikes. I am not that desperate for a haircut. It's been 5 months and I could easily leave it for another month to let the surge settle.

I really think that it's now time to let people do what they want to do. Everyone knows the facts so they can take their own risks. 3 months is more than enough. Look at Sweden and how they have coped!

Once businesses start to re-open up, it's plainly obvious that infections will rise. The chance of getting the virus has been dropped.

Brexit is happening. The country voted. That has been in the background, because of the virus which is understandable. The country has spent so much money supporting people; not everyone. Not me that's for sure as an Ltd Director. I had to shut my company! The government does need to get everyone back to work to pay for this pandemic.

The 4th of july will create a breeding ground for covid as will people be sensible going to the pub? Not a ******* chance. It will be rammed and 1 metre distance will be lax when sober and when hammered it will be out the window. I cant see how you can stay 1 metre in a cinema? Also why the 4th of July? what scientific information or target are we working to or from?

It’s a scary time for us all. I’ve not been shopping not even the supermarket since the beginning of the pandemic. I can understand why people go stir crazy but we need to stay safe surely people know this by now but no. Watching the news last night and people were hugging to console each other, I appreciate that’s a natural thing but please stay safe.

I don't really know how to feel you do have doubts but I guess society has to move forward. Still so sad that so many people lost their lives and many are grieving their loss ☹️☹️ I will do my utmost best in trying to keep to the rules.

Yes it is nice to see life get back to some sort of normality. People enjoy being out, especially when it’s sunny. I went out quite late to a handful of shops yesterday and I couldn’t believe the joy I felt just seeing shops being open

People might stay 2m apart when they go in to the pub but after a few drinks they really won't care. I can see how cinema could work but not others especially pub

The lessening of 2m to 1m where 2m is not possible feels like it is only being done so the government don't have to keep paying out for loss of business and wages. As far as I'm aware there is no evidence to say 1m is sufficient and if there is any evidence to say we should be wearing masks if down to 1 metre then it should be mandatory - wearing a mask protects others not yourself so at the moment you can choose if you put other people at risk!

Business is willing too let us suffer so that they can get a few bucks in their coffers , unfortunately we'll probably end up in coffins because of this monetary decision, not happy with it at all, science is still saying everywhere else stay 2m apart, this is not health driven this is a purely economic decision, I suggest that you try and keep the 2m as much as possible and continue to wash hands and wear masks where appropriate, don't put yourself and your loved ones at unnecessary risk.

The tranquillity of lockdown was special, more cooking, reading, talking to family on the phone.

Listening to the birds as there was no traffic around.

I will be sorry to see everyone rush back to 'normal'!

I think we will definitely have a second wave, most people I unfortunately know are completely ignoring the rules as if nothing happened! It's disgusting! Hopefully others are using their common sense as so many people are making sacrifices.

From the start the social distancing gap varied from country to country, for example in Germany was set at 1.5m and France at only 1m. Yet, the confirmed combined total of deaths for Germany and France is still less than the UK. In my area I've noticed over the last month or so that when friends meet in parks and other places most have not been adhering to social distancing guidelines. I wouldn't rush to the hairdresser, as it may take them a while to get used to cutting hair while having to wear gloves and other protective gear 💇‍♀️

I have to agree with other pregnant people - we’re still being told that we’re not allowed our partners with us before / after the birth or at any scans / appointments (even though we live with them) but they can go to the pub 🤔

I don't know how they plan to keep people apart in pubs plus there is no limited on how many can go into a pub BUT you can now get married as long as you don't have more than 30. Solution - service with 30 then reception at pub where everyone just happens to be having a drink!

The virus will come again, NHS must be thinking that way, my daughter has just had her secondment extended from September until March (she's COVID testing lead).
