£300,000 of Competition Wins
Other
Lady on This Morning being interviewed for her successful comping says she has won 300k worth in 30 years.
That still works out at 10k per year. She says she enters 100 per day, sometimes more so she must be very lucky as I enter 200 plus per day and win nothing like that amount.
Makes you wonder how one person can have so much luck!
Clearly a very lucky lady who puts time in. The bigger question is - how do you find time to enter 200 a day? It does explain my success rate for, sometimes, two a day.
Hi Sunny, yes it is definitely a numbers game. As I said above I enter 200 plus per day, lots of the magazine ones then those in the comp section. I only enter those I would like to win or would make good gifts for family. In between my jobs I sit with a coffee doing them and the magazine ones are super quick so I do them every day. I have won about 4 over the last year, the latest being a carton of galaxy cookies! It was a runner up prize but had I won the big one would also have had £250 supermarket vouchers.
She probably won a few super big prizes during the 30 years. I have certainly won over 30 competitions in 5 years, the vast majority of which are small values, but a few were valued above £1,000.
I dream of the day I will win a trip to the Maldives or some big cash.
She said, and I quote, when she started 'I won every competition I entered'. She apparently couldn't afford tickets to gigs and festivals so entered comps back in the days before internet. I expect very few people comped back then as it cost stamps and effort lol. I used to do them and won a few nice bits but really only came to it big time when I joined LD.
lilyflower I won a holiday voucher for £250 in the Autumn of 2019, they allowed two extensions then I caught Covid so then I had to forfeit it. It just wasn't meant to be.
sunny101 Would they not give you and extended extension especially as most holidays are still not allowed?
lilyflower It was clear in the T&Cs so I was pushing my luck even with the first extension. I went downhill in March and was nowhere near fit enough, even a month later so the second extension expired and the country's rules had changed rapidly.
sunny101 Bit of a bummer, especially when prizes are like hens teeth. Perhaps it's in the 'home for unclaimed prizes' with my scarf
I won some signed teen books recently but have never received the magazine subscription that went with it, but that is the only thing that has never arrived.
I won the online Julia Bradbury coastal walks comp and got those Scandinavian walking sticks, gin and a pile of Heck sausages as they sponsored the comp.
Wow I’m impressed with all your wins. I’m a novice entering competitions. The most I’ve won is £100 Tesco vouchers.
If you are prepared to put the time in you can get decent rewards. I can enter several hundred a day on a good day but sadly other family issues are taking my time at the moment and are likely to for the most of the rest of this year sop I am cutting right back
I think Di Cook, the woman featured on This Morning enters lots of different types of competitions - for example, ones where you have to purchase an item to enter, or one’s that take some effort. These will have a lower number of entrants.
I just enter the free to enter competitions. I’ve had some great wins in the past but hardly any this last year
You are probably right, I don't enter any that you pay to enter and it stands to reason they have less entrants. By the way, her name was Di Coke and she reckons that had a lot to do with her winning but can't see it myself, the winners are meant to be selected at random not by their name.
I thought it might be Di Coke, I expect you already know that she has her own website. She shares tips and even runs a few comps herself from time to time. https://superlucky.me/category/comping-tips/
tumblespots no I didn't know that I will take a look. I am surprised she wants to help other compers though, good on her.
I haven’t won anything recently but many years ago I won a stay at The Aviator hotel in the Sky Suite. Included in the prize was afternoon tea, chocolate truffle making activity, 3 course dinner and then a picnic hamper to take home! So I still hope to get that lucky again
I have 100% of the belief that I enter the comps and if I win its the end of the taking part . If your in it you have a chance to win it .
I don't blame the woman for entering the comps and if she does win that amount then fair play to her . I probably enter between 100-150 comps a week and if I win happy days and if I don't then I sleep better tonight .
Well done to the woman though .
Yes definitely I wasn't criticising her, I have entered comps for a good 35 + years myself. I just find it strange how she has managed to win so much when others enter just as many and don't. You would think winners would be more random.
Where do u find all these competitions to enter I say that because there is a lot of scam going on
I have never entered a competition, don't know how to get into it. Any advice would be helpful.
most the competition on insta and Facebook ask you to tag friends. Who do you tag as most people would get annoyed. This is the one thing that stops me.
Lynibis and SalmaS I set myself up with a separate gmail email 2 years ago after really struggling with comps and important suff going to the same address. It's really worked well. I know that if i don't get to it each day, the worst that can happen is I miss a prize notification ....ha ha! ...but at least my important stuff is dealt with promptly. I haven't won a sausage for maybe 4 or 5 years despite entering 100's and 100's tho I used to have some nice wins.
I get annoyed with ... enter via Facebook or Instagram as I don't have those. I have got twitter and I do enter some on there but I've never won.
and SalmaS I do not have any social media so only enter the website and email competitions. Yes, from what I have read on here people do not like to hassle their friends with tags but maybe you can ask up front if they mind, they can always ignore it.
If you want to set up an email exclusively for comps then do so, but I have found over the years I have muddled my two accounts up so have to either write down or have a good memory of which is which and what I have entered. They have ways of finding out if you use two accounts to enter a comp twice.
