Actors and Politics

Actors and politics - so Hugh Grant is putting his ore in with Boris now.
Irrelevant of what you think of our politicians, can actors really have a sway in matters and should they?
They are entitled to have an opinion, but being in a number of very successful films shouldn't mean their views are somehow regarded as more important than anyone else.
I find that there is very little between politicians and actors these days-they are both trying to sell you a dream of something better for the future!
Actors, when famous, tend to give their opinions whether political or not. After all they’re trying to constantly be in the press to influence others.
It's much more prevalent and think Ricky Gervais summed it up perfectly at the recent awards - if you're an actor then act and leave the politics to those who have a better knowledge of it. It rankles as much as Emma Thompson flying everywhere but excusing it because she plants trees. Just act will ya?
Actors, politicians... aren't they the same? They seem to spend their working lives pretending to the public they're something they're not and reading from scripts that someone else has written.
I think it ridiculous how inflated these people are. they get paid to pretend to be people they are not for a living and the better they are at lying and pretending the higher the esteem they are held in. They get paid millions and then these people preach to us because they seem to believe their opinions are worth more than ours. I think most actors are idiots and wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them. Not interested in the nonsense they spout, for eg, leo dicaprio and global warming; how many yachts does he own?
