Any Advice or Opinions on Coloured UPVC Windows Please?

We have to replace all of the windows in our new home and neither of us are too keen on white. We haven't got as far as searching prices yet so that could be a factor but we're wondering about a coloured UPVC - preferably not dark brown either! Fussy, I know! It's the novelty of planning once more, I guess.
About the only thing I know is that the coloured UPVC costs much more than white, although I recently noticed that a near neighbour whose porch had been white UPVC has had it painted a darker colour... and it looks good.

Ann1984 Apparently new UPVC shouldn't be painted (the article says wait 12 months) I had been contemplating a different colour when replacing some windows a few years ago but the price made me think again. BORDERJOE if by chance you're replacing UPVC frames it is possible the actual frames don't need replacing new glazing panels (a fraction of the price) and a coat of paint to existing frames could save you thousands.
davidstockport and Ann1984 Thanks for the reply both .... well, I didn't know you could paint UPVC!!!!! Normally yep, we'd have replaced the units because we need to save where we can BUT the frames are metal ...ancient and causing issues with condensation and damp as well as the glazing misting. Thanks for the link davidstockport ... am off to check it out with a cuppa in hand.
A couple of houses down our road have painted the white frames a dark grey and it looks amazing!
snoogans888 Hey if only the frames on the new place weren't metal (with problems) ...I was thinking of grey so that would have been a great option ..thanks all for the help.
BORDERJOE. I think it depends on the size of your windows and the amount of light that comes in to the house. If you can, visit a home with grey frames first. If they are grey inside and out, they can drain some of the light coming from the house. You can get frames that are white on the inside and a different colour on the outside, but they are more expensive.
White windows are classic, timeless and unobtrusive and won’t go out of fashion!
Coloured frames can cost approx 15% more to install and the darker they are, the quicker they will fade. Having said that, they are currently very sought after and can increase the value of your property. Having grey windows versus white boosted house prices in the south by an average of £70,000, compared to a £37,000 increase in the north in April 2021! Good luck with your new home.
gerrykelly25 ...that's a great help ta ..... I hadn't thought about the inside being darker ... and, if I'm honest, I can't see the funds going to paying too much more than for white and I do take your point about white being a safe option. Also, I didn't realise the shade would fade! I'll still do more research but now I have more questions to ask so thanks a lot.
