Afternoon Tea
Ask a Question
What does everyone think of afternoon tea (whoever that's been)? Are they worth the money?
On Friday we went for an afternoon tea at The Montagu Arms hotel in Beaulieu. Love the relaxed feeling and service. It’s a real treat. The week before we had tea in a Patisserie Valarie for less than half the price of the hotel but it’s not as good the scones were dry.
It depends where you go. The fancier ones at hotels are usually good, as youre paying for the service and ambience. The high street ones, like Patisserie Valerie and Caffe Concerto, are rubbish - dry cakes and drier service!
Billie you’re welcome. You can probably get one for about £20 or so, which is quite reasonable as you usually get a photogenic setting. There’s usually offers with lastminute.com and groupon.co.uk
hspexy that's not a bad price at all. Wouldn't of thought about looking at lastminute.com. Thank you
It's fun to do it once in a while, particularly on special occasions. But, I still prefer relaxing in a good coffee shop with a healthy slice of cake
It depends where it. I've been to some really nice places for afternoon tea in and around Bath. They're usually pretty good value for money for a nice experience and decent cake. It's lovely for a special occasion but not something I would do every week.
ClaireF1978 I can't wait to try afternoon tea. Hopefully I can find a nice one around where I live
I love it i always do it for my birthday, some places are more generous than others and i don't always get alcohol cos it bumps the price up but had themed afternoon tea before too
KirstyWaddell themed afternoon tea sounds lovely. Will have to look into that. Thank you
Ive been to a few. Some of them have been lovely others not so good. My favourite one was £10 per person and we had loads and it was really nice. The worst was £25 per person and wasnt enough to fill your eye
I've had a few afternoon tea experiences and the best ones, in my opinion, are held in older buildings with some serious heritage. The more established the venue - the more experience they have of pleasing the customer with traditional delights. I've also had a prosecco afternoon tea and that was lovely as it was for a hen do and seemed very relevant. Don't forget to look at the voucher codes/buyagift sites as you save a huge amount on the tea.
Hi,
One of the best bargains around for Afternoon Tea for Two with a glass of Prosecco each is this one at Cafe Rouge. For just a tenner each, you can't go far wrong!
If you're looking for something swankier you can get Luxury Afternoon Tea vouchers ar Red Letter Days too (try using code RLD10 for a tenner off)
Recently I went to Amberley Castle and to the BailiffsCourt Hotel (both in West Sussex) for a posh afternoon tea at a discount using this code. Still pricey, but worth it!
I personally think they charge way too much at some places for afternoon tea and when you break it down, you're paying a huge amount per item, although you have to consider the location etc. Of course you pay a premium for the location but if you're going somewhere special, afternoon tea is nice as a treat.
SaverDeals that was my thought to. I don't want to pay extortionate amount for afternoon tea and get disappointed by only get a small handful of food or drink
I highly recommend Carriages of Cambridge!
They have proper train carriages all set out in a 50's like theme, and the food and service was fantastic!
I had high tea, but they do an afternoon tea for slightly cheaper Its deffo worth the money just for the experience!
We have had afternoon tea locally (as a gift) after moving and enjoyed it so much that we booked in again ourselves. It was delicious, plenty to eat and drink and the host was wonderful, definitely a people person. I would recommend it.
