Should airlines be flying?

Ask a Question

When do you think airlines should start flying? Ryanair have already been talking about flying soon but do you think this is too soon?

I read somewhere that Ryanair are going to start flying again, with just the proviso that passengers and staff wear masks, their CEO claims this is sufficient and as Aircraft have medical grade air filtration systems in the cabins there will be no real risk .I don't believe this is sufficient, surely they should be spacing passengers and possibly leaving at least the centre seats empty . I understand they need to get up and running ASAP as they have lost large sums and lots of jobs with Airlines, Airports, Accommodation providers etc are at risk but they need to do it safely for everyone concerned . We have no plans to travel abroad this year anyway.

Nope, they shouldn't be flying, but it all comes down to money over safety when it comes to these airlines.

not sure why they are flying, as what 'essential' journey needs to be made out the country? given that airlines rely on packing the planes out to make money, which they can't currently do, I don't see the logic of flying right now

Most countries have closed their borders or put quarantine orders on any foreign national entering their country, so I really don’t see how the planes can operate properly again.

I have also seen a computer simulation of how air recirculates within the cabin. Leaving the middle seats clear would make absolutely no difference. It would also take several recirculations to take the virus out of the air from one cough or sneeze, no matter where they were sat and it would affect rows in front and behind, as well as the width of the cabin. Likewise, you have the same issue in restaurants and cafes with air con systems. You wouldn’t need to be sat on the same table or even the next one, for the droplets to reach you. You could be half way across the establishment and still get it. Airlines and hospitality have a real problem.

Let the people who want to go on holiday abroad go then just dont let them back in this country.

Too many deaths, too many people thinking it's just a flu. We thought the death rate in Italy was bad 5 weeks ago now they are looking at us through their hands.

Well why tho ? british people shouldn’t be allowed anywhere as it’s most infected country now, would you like italian or Chinese coming over 5 weeks ago and people in their country saying yes go on holidays spread infection but don’t be allowed back in , very selfish mentality 😞

Not sure how they can justify running commercial flights right now. With this particular industry they ought to tread carefully, as they’re never far off from a law suit
