With the high street still on lockdown another high street store has gone into administration? Are you worried about your high street?
I think so many people have changed their shopping habits (me included) during lockdown companies have to change their operating models or they will suffer. We're seeing it with so many this year and even for the last few years. They aren't moving with the times. I do worry about the high street. I think it's still needed and when not in lockdown love to browse in store.
I really can't remember the last time that I went to a shop on the high street.
I've been shopping online for years.
I was even doing most of my supermarket shopping online way before the lockdown.
Not surprised. Aldo was rubbish anyway. I am worried about the high street though as I’d rather see businesses thrive rather than empty high streets. But I don’t understand why such premises can’t be turning into living space, as apparently there is a shortage.
Such a shame,I managed to get a pair of Aldo trainers from Asos,super comfy..maybe they will merge with another retailer,always liked their footwear x
Never heard of the company so assume no stores in the south west of England. People really need to stop ordering shoes online because of the high return rate. Much more sensible and environmentally friendly to buy shoes locally. I think while free delivery should be available I feel consumers should pay towards returning goods in order to motivate them to only order goods with a very low possibility of returning them. Obviously if the goods are faulty or not as described they shouldn't pay though but if they are an incorrect size they should.
What if the company has sent you the wrong size? Like when I ordered a size 4 and they sent a size 6. Should I have to pay to return those when it wasn't my fault?
MrsCraig No of course not and nor should you pay for the return of faulty goods or falsely described goods but a huge number of people are returning clothes because they simply don't like the look of them when they turn up and some people are even wearing the clothes once and then returning them. Then there is the issue that even the size of shoes or clothes you normally wear can vary by factory and so even what should be the correct size is wrong. No problem if you are buying locally in the high street but online it has to be a return. I would say in that situation the buyer should be responsible for return costs because such variations in size are expected. Getting a good fit is something easy to do in the high street. Ultimately we need to look at all logistics models and try to minimise the environmental damage and create tax systems that push us towards the most efficient logistics model and with clothes that is definitely going to be local purchases.
BonzoBanana I don't buy shoes or clothes unless I need them and I tend to be them in store as I can try them on and make sure they are right for me. There are a few shops I order online from as their items always fit but it is about once a year! I have never sent anything back but as long as it wasn't a ridiculous amount then I would be fine with paying to send something back. I haven't heard of people wearing things once and sending them back. Do people actually do that?

As incomes decline maybe it will get worse in the future.

MrsCraig Same here, I like to be fair and honest. Don't get me wrong I like a bargain but wouldn't wear clothes out and return them. I'm not going to do stuff that I wouldn't like to happen to me. If I was selling clothes I'd like people to be fair to me. I was shocked when I read about how much stuff is stolen from charity shops. I would of thought such shops were immune from theft because who could steal from lets say a shop that is helping young children cope with horrible illnesses but that's the world we live in. Some people clearly don't have a moral voice whispering in their ear in fact some people seem to take pride in having a hard non-moral attitude.
BonzoBanana I find it shocking that people steal from charity shops! I love a charity shop bargain and it is great knowing that I'm helping others too. I watched a programme recently about people who shoplift and they were proud of it!
I am familiar with Aldo as I believe there's also some in Portugal. Can't be sure however online shopping shoes or clothes is always weird for me, I like to try things in store. I have purchased shoes online but that's only because they were with massive discount.
Can’t say I’m surprised. This store has always been very overpriced. Each time I’ve passed my local store it has always been empty. Such a shame for all the people who work there.
