Amazon Code Stacking Help Needed!

I have been attemptimg to collect various codes when posted but for example people say 'if you collected previous voucher stack the new one too'.
I have been ticking and collecting various codes but don't understand stacking! Do you have to keep every item in your basket or just click the discount offered and then delete from basket? I'm sure it's obvious but I'm not getting it at at. I need a dummies guide to it

From what I understand you can go to the Amazon vouchers pages, or individual products with vouchers, and apply them all. You don't have to keep the items in your basket. Then, later on, if another promotion comes up - for example a price drop - the voucher will already be applied.
Think the only times I've stacked is when got voucher on Amazon and got one from jump send
