Can I Get An Amazon Refund Without Returning The Item?

Ask a Question

Is there any way to get a refund in Amazon without returning the product? I have to send it to China and the delivery cost will be more than the product but I am not happy with it so want the refund without sending it.

That's not going to happen sadly with out posting unless item not as described or is faulty. Maybe chat with amazon and mention item to post back cost more then the actual item. Could you not sell it instead

I have had several lower priced items from Amazon this year that they have refunded me for without having to return the item. I think it depends how much it initially cost.

I find it also depends on whether it is Amazon itself selling the item as opposed to 3rd party sellers.

I guess Amazon does the maths and works out the cost of returning it is not worth it to them.

I'm afraid I whinge on here all the time about Amazon "market place deals " Other Deals sites insist on a good feedback record before allowing such deals , sadly Latest Deals do not !

I know I bang on about such deals to no effect but intelligent members know that there are many members who post this sort of deal as their "3 a day" for the points '

Until Latest Deals takes action against these " 3 a day " posters of rubbish deals then this will continue .

As always the advice is to do your own research , check the sellers feedback and check the posters username - many of whom post non deal after non deal !

I've tried to post a deal on here, even though through my experience, they've been a good seller, but my post got rejected!

I would try live chat with them if they have that option or if it you have paid with a credit car get in contact with them if it’s faulty x

I would definitely LiveChat with Amazon-they've been excellent for me -never disappointed. Only issue I can see is it it's just cos you don't like/have changed your mind-which is fair enough. If poor quality/wrongly described etc etc then worth a try. I only order cheap-really cheap stuff from China and that goes against the grain, as I have a problem with the country's attitude-(not the Chinese people-just the politics) but at least I know it's not too expensive a mistake....

If the product is faulty/ not as described or doesn't work in the manner it should contact the buyer and ask for a pre paid returns label . Amazon also has a A-Z guarantee which applies to purchases from third parties which may help you.

Complain to seller nicely saying unfortunately you would have to leave a negative review sometimes works good luck

NOT ADVISABLE Amazon’s policies do not allow buyers to use the threat of adverse feedback to coerce sellers into making concessions. From: https://sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/forums/t/does-amazon-allow-buyer-feedback-extortion/104611/8

It might however be permissable if the threatened negative feedback was justified.

If you can't get a refund it might be a good option to try reselling it instead

I ordered a product from amazon which was delivered fine but it is not doing what I thouhgt it was going to do (not a wifi/smart power strip, just a normal one - while I wanted a smart one). What is best answer to give for reason for returning the product. Trying to avoid shipping back charges? Or can I drop it at amazon locker myself for free return? TIA!

dsantini Amazon are pretty good with returns so I wouldn't worry too much about the reason. They will tell you where to post it

I'd guess the performance inadequate or not compatible but unsure...depends on the seller you bought from .... I think Amazon Live Chat is brill and I have never been disappointed ... I realise that's not going to help you here tho. I always try to use Prime and think it's well worth it ...for me anyhow.

Is there a problem, fault or error in the description as to why you want to return. If any of these the companies usually refund without needing the product back. If it is just because you personally don’t like it or changed your mind then you will need to pay for it to be returned. Best advice always check free refunds when you purchase anything.

I've dealt with a lot of Chinese sellers some have been terrible and some fantastic but on one occasion for a marketplace transaction I complained to Amazon about the seller and after a while I was refunded. Generally though very pleased with what I receive from China.

What’s wrong with the item you’ve received?

Amazon normally send a pre paid envelop. so you can send your return.

Is the item faulty? If that is the case, then it should be the seller who are to pay the return postage.

Try selecting another "reason" for the refund. I've found, even for UK returns, if you select "Changed my mind" then you have to pay return costs, but if you select "Arrived too late" or one of the options that implies it was their fault, then you can return it for free.

Amazon has refunded me countless times without sending the actual product back, but when it is a third party seller on Amazon it get a little trickier. Speak to webchat if its faulty or "not as described" cos the item is poor quality then ask Amazon to pay the return shipping costs and they quite often will do.
