I have used Amazon subscription and have saved 15%. But I thought that the idea of the saving was that all the items would come together. I have so far bad 3 different deliveries and am waiting a fourth. The amount of packaging is crazy. I am happy with the prices though.
I think it is Pandemic craziness, they even pack cosmetics in extra plastic bags. In normal times they pack the subscribe and save items in one big box...
I have just had an order of four items in one delivery. It may depend if they have the items in stock? I agree that the amount of packaging used is ridiculous!
It depends on the time and day ordered. If you ordered something now and then another thing hours later chances are that first thing is already shipped... also they got many warehouses and it's possible that your items came from different warehouses at different times. If they can they always try to post several items in one packaging but sometimes its impossible especially if you want next day delivery on it all...but I agree sometimes the size of the packaging for tiny thing can be ridiculous 
Some come together but most of the time they are delivered in different packages. This may be due to the fact they are coming from different sellers or different warehouses perhaps.
I dont usually get hung up on packaging as I tend to keep it & reuse it when selling items so has never particularly bothered me, But when I had a nail varnish delivered last week in a medium sized box I did raise an eyebrow. The packaging no doubt cost more than I payed for the nail polish. 
I got 2 months of amazon prime for free I signed up to the yearly one and then when my free tial was up I changed it to the monthly one and was offered another free trial give it a go guys see if u can get 2 months free trial worth a try
