Amazon is Taking Over

Amazon is taking over . I can’t stand the clothes , these are not deals ! More the fashion they can’t sell ..
Amazon Prime is fantastic because it offers free shipping on tones of products.
What other shops offer free shipping when purchasing just one item? x
danicaaa The shops that don't offer FREE shipping are the shops that don't already include the price of shipping into their price, or charge many of their customers £8 a month for the FREE shipping. Amazon prime members are often effectively charged twice for FREE shipping. (in the price and also in the monthly charge even in months they don't have anything delivered).
Curry's (and possibly other traders) offer actually FREE shipping even on Amazon products which they usually sell for substantially less than Amazon.
davidstockport Don't forget all the other things you get with your £8 a month like a streaming TV service, streaming music, free books and early access to deals (although there is a remarkable familiarity to the deals offered!)
Pjran Paying £7.99 a month for being a PRIME member so it's not free - That's my point exactly. How can anyone possibly argue that because you get other things included for the £7.99 possibly think that the other things somehow makes delivery FREE. danicaaa davewalsh126
davewalsh126 You are actually paying for all the things, how much you're paying individually depends on which you use, many can't (and don't) use the video streaming because they don't have the necessary equipment - they still pay for it though. Just as many others are paying twice for the same thing: The delivery charge in the actual price and the amount they pay for the "supposed" free delivery. Prime members only pay once for the "free" delivery if they don't have anything delivered,
It's no surprise really, when you are advised to stay at home (for the past year) you tend to shop online at a place that you know will have most things. Many people have become recluses and are scared to venture out, even now (me included) a year is a long time. Life as we know it has changed dramatically and many shops that we used to frequent have gone down the pan. Until we are allowed to move around freely and all places have reopened I am sure that Amazon will continue to thrive.
I have a love/hate relationship with Amazon. I hate pouring more money into an already mega rich industry that monopolises this sort of commerce. I will not post any deals from Amazon, nor will I 'like' a deal of theirs.
However, like many others I take the bait and cannot fault them on delivery, access to everything I could ever need and price is good more often than not. I am always astounded that I can find something so obscure they can't possibly sell it....but they do.
I have ordered far more from them since covid but that is because shops have been closed and I am car-less at the moment, it is so convenient to order online. When things are more normal I will certainly shop more 'in person' but I worry that so much will have gone online, we will no longer have much choice when visiting the high street.
Whilst I agree with you about the clothes , every time we have ordered clothes they seem to end up being sent back, but returns are free so no real issues , definitely better places to buy clothes from either online or instore, but then clothes are very much a personal choice, what one person likes someone else might not . However for other items the fast delivery and competitive prices make Amazon a good choice for us,
Depends on what you are buying,I've had some lovely quality tops from amazon, there are a few known brands on there too, plus looking at verified reviews gives a good idea what you can expect of the item x
I think the only plus side with Amazon for me is the fact that they deliver quickly with Prime, so I only use it for things that I need ASAP. I prefer to shop at places with better ethics and support small businesses- Amazon isn’t the only online retailer that delivers during a pandemic
Amazon can be great most of times it's just annoying when they change the delivery date without telling you because they think it's ok to do so.
I agree with everyone above, free delivery, has everything you need whilst isolating etc. The only downside is why do the retailers keep increasing and decreasing their prices like a yo-yo??
I recently bought some gym leggins from amazon and I love them. Also bought my hubby a coat for Christmas from there too. I can't complain x
I have never had an issue with Amazon. Only ever had to send one item back because it is was damaged and it was really easy to do so.
During the pandemic amazon has been really useful and I've been able to order things that we needed without having to go out unnecessarily.
You can get well known brands of clothing on amazon, but there are plenty of places to buy clothes from. If you don't like what amazon offers then shop somewhere else. If you don't like the amazon deals on here just scroll past them. I very rarely like the amazon deals on the site.
their fashion is often pricier than other sites, and I don’t like the search function. But now and again you do get a good bargain, especially for branded stuff
Amazon is a really good staring point when it comes to shopping as you can find almost anything there and with the right add-ins you can see how the price of the item has changed over time so you can see if you are getting a good price. You can then search for the same item on other sites to see if you can get a better deal. To be honest I find about 75% of the time Amazon is the cheapest - esp once you take delivery into account, and as others have mentioned - the rare time you get an issue its so easy to get it sorted - something that may other online retailers really need to sort out!
Amazon has been brilliant for me during the pandemic and before that. I am very loyal to this brand.
I live remotely and there are very few shops near me. It's cheaper for me to have home deliveries than travel to a town (London) for shopping (which I rarely do).
You do have to be careful on what you are buying and test product price against the market, but on the whole, I have found Amazon to generally be fair, offer great products and super service.
Xx
I have started using Amazon I like it . Only question in my mind is when things don’t arrive or go wrong are you covered like Ebay?
