Amazon and Unions
Ask a Question
It was interesting to read this article from an Amazon employee’s point of view based in America.
Despite having been in a union in a previous career, she turned down the proposal. Shortly after joining Amazon, she was diagnosed with brain cancer. Her treatment, which consisted of removal of her brain tumour and chemotherapy, cost approx £123K. She says she would not have been able to pay for this without insurance.
Amazon provides comprehensive healthcare from day one. The union wanted to discuss excessive workload, bathroom breaks and pay. Amazon hinted that the union might remove existing worker benefits. Some argue that they intimidated their workers.
Is there a union that represents UK Amazon workers?
Do you think unions are a good idea generally or outdated now?
