American or British Pancakes

Ask a Question

Which pancakes are your favourite to eat or make - the Smaller fluffier ones like the American style/Scottish Drop scone/scotch pancake πŸ₯žπŸ˜‹

Or the Classic wider and flatter British pancakes πŸ˜‹

British 100%. American are too thick and cakey. Must be covered in sugar, no lemon juice!

Don't make me choose πŸ˜€

I think I had the American ones nearly every breakfast while in New York, with Maple Syrup they take some beating.

If the filling is savoury it's British otherwise I'm with blacklabrador American/Canadian with proper Canadian maple syrup

When I was in New York in 2019 I did a day trip flying up to Niagara Falls, and visited them on the Canadian side. They had huge bottles of Maple Syrup for sale at virtually no money, but because we'd flown we could only take 100ml liquids onboard, so I had to pass.

blacklabrador Oh dear. Once you've had the real stuff there's no going back. Has to be produced in Canada with nothing added. I'm now feeling hungry and need syrup, trouble is it's addictive πŸ™‚

I think the British pancakes are definitely the best but i like to try others on occasion. Typically I can find US desserts a bit over the top with regards fat and sugar. Most if not all of my favourite desserts are British or European I think.

Just completely different for me, drop scones and pancakes are both good in their own ways 🀩

I prefer the flat ones, British as you say or I think more appropriately the French style crepes πŸ™‚

British pancakes are very different to French crepes the ingredients are slightly different, the cooking method different too. I guess you could sort of say the British Pancake is half way house between the American pancakes and the french crepes which I personally think is the sweetspot (pun intended) between the two.

Both for me with a wide range of toppings....again I would not consider myself as a "temple of health" and have a sweet tooth.
