Android Phones Now Have a Very Handy Bonus Feature
In the News
Google’s next full upgrade of its Android operating system won’t arrive until August, but in the meantime the company is pushing out smaller bonus updates.
The latest is a boost for the Google Assistant that lets it read out articles and web pages out loud to you. All you have to say is ‘hey Google, read it,’ or ‘hey Google, read this page,’ while you have it open on your device.
It could be particularly useful when you can’t use your hands to scroll – for example if you’re cooking or on a packed, standing-room-only train and can’t lift your arms. We speak from experience.
While the Google Assistant is reading the page, it will automatically scroll downwards and even highlight the text that’s being read.
