Is Anyone Actually Looking Forward to Going Back to Work?
Ask a Question
Is anyone actully looking forward to going back to work? (Deepak, Tom & Kelsey clearly are!)
Or are you so fed up with the whole Christmas thing & your relatives by now that you want to go back to get away from it all?
I work with my family so even when I go back to work Iβm still with them. And even though we all have time off over christmas you still end up doing bits and bobs
Mr Tumblespots and I worked from home together and as you say you do end up catching up with things even though everyone else is on holiday, but it has to be done sometime...
Yes I am really as I get bored indoors if I am home for more than two days. I look forward to seeing the kids and babies I work with.
Working with children/babies I can imagine that you would miss them, when I worked in a school I missed them too.
Oh NO, I do feel for those who work through the festivities and hope it isn't forced on you, but then perhaps most people don't feel they can refuse?! Maybe you will get some time off now that it isn't so frantic?
Work isn't all it's cracked up to be. Most jobs are just a means to an end i.e. salary. Sadly these days the length of time you have to work for, to get a pension, keeps getting extended too! Just keep looking forward to the holidays & Bank Holidays inbetween.
Definitely not, I've been loving having lots of time off with my kids to really have fun and relax without work hanging over me
Some of the jobs Mr Tumblespots did were awful and he couldn't switch off even when he wasn't at work! Enjoy the rest of the festivities before you go back. It's lovely that you enjoy the time at home as the children will be grown up before you know it.
I can sympathise, it seems as though it's all work and no play which makes life dull. I think a lot of people live for the 'not at work' times.
tumblespots if only we worked weekends and had the week off, but got paid the same...
Nope Iβve been spending this time with my family so itβs been so nice however I like to see my coworkers at work again
Haha not a chance! There are far better things to do than go to work, but i have to admit the first few days (or even the first week) things are quite calm so no one hates it completely
Christmas and New Year is far better when you are younger, sadly as you age and people move away it lacks that special magic but a break from work is always welcome.
hspexy I'm not sure I would want to live my life over again, mind you it might mean that I make better choices the second time around?!
tumblespots lol if I could do it again, armed with the knowledge I have now, Iβm ready to be sent back right away
I"m in the forces, it's more of a stretch having to leave the wife and kids than anything but thankfully I'm retiring soon, so I'm on a long leave at the moment so making the most of it.
Mr Tumblespots was in the forces years ago and although we weren't together then I can sympathise as I know it was hard for him when he had to leave loved ones behind. His own parents were seperated for over 4 years in WW2 and I know they didn't find it easy either. As you say you can make the most of the time you have on your long leave and look forward to your retirement.
I went back to work yesterday. Very quiet in the office as most people are still on break. I'm working from home today.
It must be nice to have the chance to work from office/home as required (I'm assuming you have a choice). It's a short break really isn't it, especially if you are back already - even with an emptyish office.
That's a good way of looking at it - the fact that it pays for the good things in life that you can look forward to.
Iβve actually had a relaxing time this year. Made sure I wasnβt the only one cooking and cleaning and made myself watch tv and enjoy. No school runs till 7th and return to work on 3rd.
The festive season is supposed to be an opportunity for everyone to relax so I am pleased to hear that you managed to share out the daily tasks and enjoyed some restful time yourself. Happy New Year!
Going back to work !? Nice work if you can get it . But after 30 years in the RAF and 20 on the Railways got used to it .(yes I should have retired by now - but don't trust myself not to become vegetative )
Life is there to be shaped by one and all and I hope you are happy in what you do. Happy New Year
1969 -1999 we didn't get invaded once when I was in the RAF - job done . 1999 - 2019 on the Railway - least said the better !
I love my job but getting myself and 2 kids ready and to school and childcare is what i'm dreading.
Getting children ready for school is a hard task, combine that with getting yourself ready for work and you really know how to 'juggle'. Enjoy what you can, you will probably look back at this time with great fondness later on.
Defo not looking forward to going back, it's good being on holiday over Xmas and new year.
Everyone needs a break, some more so than others. I always looked forward to the breaks more than the work!
I've got to find a new job, so I'm looking forward to starting something new and getting back into work
I am sure you will find something soon, we always found getting a new job hard work, interviews can be really tough! Sending you good wishes for a job you love
tumblespots aw thank you. I have an interview with an agency on Monday so i can hopefully get some work straight away.
KirstyW I am sure you will do. I wish you all the best for the interview. Keep smiling.
