Anyone Else Have This Weird Virus?
Ask a Question
Does anyone else have this weird virus that has been going about? I started to feel ill on Friday night and have spent the last 3 days, now on day 4, of being confined to my bed/sofa. It's been a long time since I've felt this ill and now our son seems to have it.
Anyone else had it and how long were you ill for? I am absolutely exhausted and just want to sleep.

Sorry to hear that you're poorly.
Fortunately, I have dodged the viruses that have been going around here. The local hospital shut a couple of wards and restricted visiting recently, so that's a bit of a worry.
Hope you get better soon.

There is all sorts of bugs going around, always the same when winter hits the U.K, I've had more bugs this year than ever before, if symptoms don't get any better within another day or 2, I would phone doctors, hope your feeling soon

martinlufc5637 I've had a number of bugs this winter too but this has to be the worst one. I will definitely be phoning the dr if I'm not better in a few days.

What are your symptoms? There’s been lots of upset tummies but not as strong as noro virus going around.

Pjran night sweats, hot flashes, headache, sore tummy, aching joints, cough, constantly thirsty especially at night time, can't sleep so exhausted, feeling really weak, struggling to stand for long periods without feeling dizzy, lose of appetite.
Definitely not norovirus, I've had that before and was different to this. Also did a covid test, it was negative though.

RegularComper91 I did wonder if it could be flu. Never had flu before but whatever this is it is not a pleasant experience.

Everybody is coming down with something at the moment. My mother was in intensive care with flu and two nasty chest infections a couple of months back and has since been ill again (nothing serious this time thankfully. Just a cold I think). I was also ill recently with a terrible cough and a sore throat that felt like smashed glass.

RegularComper91 oh your poor mother, I hope she is OK now. I don't think it is a chest infection but could be for all I know as no idea what this actually is. I usually get a cold in the winter but nothing like this.

MrsCraig She is OK now and has recovered well, thank you.
I hope your little boy gets well very soon also. It's worrying when it's your loved ones isn't it?

RegularComper91 glad to hear she has recovered well. It is very worrying when it's a loved one. He seems to be a bit better today

I've just had a bug and thought I'd have to miss out on my London trip yesterday but was well enough in the end. I had it about 6 days and it was mainly weakness and a very sore throat. I'm terrible for coping with covid as it gives me breathing issues but didn't have them so knew it wasn't that. I just put it down to a winter bug. At its worst my throat felt really raw to the point it was extremely painful to gulp.

BonzoBanana the one thing I haven't got is a sore throat! Everything else aches but my throat is fine. I did think it might be covid but test was negative. I've found it really hard to get out of bed or move from the sofa.

MrsCraig I suspect this thread will fill with people with different bugs. I still have a sniffel but generally feeling much better but doesn't sound like the same bug as yours although sometimes the same virus can cause different symptoms in different people.

BonzoBanana yes I did think that would happen, which is absolutely fine. My son isn't suffering in the same way and didn't have all the same symptoms either but I suspect we both have the same virus.

Couple weeks ago my body was aching bad and had a rough throat and bad cough which lasted probably just over a week

7 weeks n lingering sorry the hospital I was admitted to says rsv like influenza a. I do have underlying illness but this virus like the devils work. Hope you feel better real soon x

paulamanning oh my goodness, hope you are feeling better, that sounds awful. I'm better than I was this morning, the cough and my stomach are the ones really bothering me now.

MrsCraig yes I was admitted lungs were so bad , feeling so much better thank you. My partners went and now back on meds. Seems nhs are overwhelmed with these viruses x

paulamanning so glad you are feeling better. I'm not bad enough that I need to go to hospital but I can understand why the hospitals are overwhelmed with it all x

I’ve had a cough that I’ve not been able to get rid of fully for months. If anything, I’ve noticed it got worse due to a lot of the burning people are doing in the area - though it doesn’t look smoggy, I can smell the fumes, feel the pollutants in my nasal cavity and it’s irritating. I’ve got sinus issues all year round so I’m usually suffering, but I don’t normally suffer a cough for this long

It is horrible! I have never felt so weak from a virus. I lost my appetite for days and just wanted to sleep.

SaveMeSunday they seem to change all the time but a cough, sore stomach, night sweats, hot flashes, headache, aching body, being constantly thirsty, dizziness when I stand, loss of appetite, exhaustion. I've had a few head colds in the past, they are horrible too.

Sorry to hear you and your son are not well
get better
soon! Drink plenty of water, herbal tea
and fruits
too
Winter season is annoying…

I've had a cough and cold for two weeks, starting to ease now thank goodness. My friend has been ill since before Xmas.

Hope you and your son are feeling better MrsCraig - my mum who was a nurse at the time had flu once (before I was born) and she said it was the most horrific week she's ever had, she literally thought she was dying and her body was shutting down. She says every part of her hurt even her eyes and she couldn't believe the doc said it was just flu, but flu can be really bad. I take multivitamins everyday now just to help as I've started work at a school and it's always rife with some bug/illness. Fingers crossed I avoid them all x

PinkElephant26 thank you, we are both starting to feel better. I can quite believe what your mum says, that is exactly how I felt! I work at a school too, unfortunately no amount of multivitamins has ever helped me but hopefully you have more luck! X
