Have you looked on fb marketplace or Ebay? They should have some cheap ones. Or you could ask in a local fb group if someone could lend you one? My granny doesn't use hers much now so has lent to a friend of her daughter to make scrubs for the hospital. Might be worth asking.

If you have a crochet hook you can join the two halves with a simple stitch going into the front and back edges only making one loop and then casting off so that you are only working with one stitch at a time - then move upward collecting the back and front again. (not easy to put into words) You can do the same with a fine pair of knitting needles. Google 'how to crochet a seam' and this should explain it far better than my attempt.

This is lovely idea but you will not be able to get these into hospitals for health and safety reasons.

Various hospitals have asked for these. Requirements are materials must be new, item small in matching pairs and sent in a sealed clear bag with the dated on to be used after at least 4 days of date.

eyeballkerry it is the hospital that are asking for them, my friend is working on the covid ward, and when people are passing away they can not have family members with them, so the hospitals are asking for people to make 2 identical little hearts, so they can give one to the person who as passed and one to a family member for a keep sake item.

KazLou not sure what you mean by 'pillow hearts'. My understanding was that only small knitted or sewn hearts in matching pairs were required, small enough to go in an envelope to the family.

lilyflower yeah you are right in what you say, but you can make and stitch them and put a little stuffing inside them so there can be a little pillow and still be put into envelopes

KazLou Thanks. I didn't stuff my hearts just kept to two pieces of material, that way they could go as a letter up to 5mm thick anything thicker and up to 2.5cm is a large letter and costs more.
