Has Anyone Watched 1917?

Ask a Question

Tonight I sat and watched 1917. I’m just interested on people’s opinions and how it made you feel watching this. I enjoyed from start to finish

It was really good, but mostly just walking from one place to another.
When Blake had been stabbed and was dying he hadn't even realized his time was up. All because he and Schofield tried to rescue a soldier from a burning plane, who was the enemy.
Films like these have nothing really wrong with it, but it just feels boring and tiresome to always bring up the Nazis. What about Unit 731 or the Bolshevik Massacre? Most aren't even aware as schools and media only talk about Nazis. And then, people are too lazy to look it up themselves. Variety, that's all and by that, those who don't do research or read books learn something new.

Also, a film about the Halifax Explosion would not only be tragic, but also comedic. 😅

This is why I asked people’s opinion. I sat and thought about the film about what it was about and you could say it Was a boring film because he was just going from one place to another. but I really enjoyed It because it was real!

I found it a mesmerising film and only remember it being a part of the war (based on a true story) where it happened to be about Germans not dwelling on anything to do with Nazism.

Whilst it seems a contradiction in terms to say you enjoy war films dwelling on death, I also found it uplifting and feel it is important that younger generations should be aware of what their great grandparents went through.

I was similarly moved by Heartbreak Ridge, another based on a true story about a conscientious objector who instead became a medic and rescued about 70 men during one night on the aforementioned ridge.

I like seeing films about human stories unfolding rather than overlong scenes of bombing and fighting.

"overlong scenes of bombing and fighting."

Michael Bay and "Fast & Furious" movies. Well, FF films after the first three have nothing to do with street races so it's neither "fast" nor "furious". lol
