App Freebies/digital freebies/virtual freebies - Allowed or Not?

Ask a Question

I’m confused if you’re allowed or not to post an app that is now free. I’ve read the guildelines but eventhough it says we do not accept apps, when from looking through the freebies there’s loads of apps. As well as digital freebies, even though the guidelines say no theres loads of them. There’s nothing about virtual freebies but wanted to know if they’re allowed before I post. Can someone explain this? So I know for the future.

Hey, thanks for your message. I can understand how it may be confusing.

We do not accept digital freebies where they are always free. For example, the Google App, YouTube.com, a webinar to a free online class, free courses online, the Facebook app etc.

UNLESS, it is a digital product that normally costs money. For example, an app that normally costs £20 but is free for a limited time.

We do not accept, however, free digital ebooks (at any time) such as free kindle books or PDFs because there are literally millions of them at any one time, and there are websites better suited for you to find these (such as Amazon.co.uk).

If you have spotted posts that you feel should therefore be in moderation you can report them. Press “Report” and select the appropriate reason.

I hope this helps explain things further. If you have any questions you’re welcome to contact us.
