Contraception shortage 'causing utter chaos'

In the News

A shortage of contraception is causing chaos and risks unplanned pregnancies and abortions, doctors are warning.

Leading sexual health experts have written to ministers warning that the supply shortage is beginning to lead to serious problems across the UK.

A number of daily pills and a long-acting injectable contraceptive are thought to be affected.

The problem follows a shortage of hormone replacement therapy for menopausal women last year.

What do you think of this?

I got the coil implanted a few months ago. I used to be on the pill before I had my son but I wanted something that I didn't have to think about every day. Best thing I ever did and especially glad of it now after reading this.

tumblespots I know, our son is on medication for his lungs after his operation. He will be on it until July, I've made sure I have enough of it in the house to last until then.

I would have just told my husband he wasn't coming near me for a while until the shortage was over 😂

I think when u have issues with periods and your usual meds out of stock, that can cause problems and it will mean those people will need to go to their GP to get the thing sorted in a different way.

I am aware that HRT was short and caused enormous problems, contraception is equally scarce now. As you say other methods may need to be sorted out. 🐞

tumblespots Injections are total punishment any ways....to get them every 3 months...and the pills, if u forget 1, u can get pregnant...I also went with the implant, once u have a bit of pain, after u do not have to think about it for 3 years.

In desperate times like these, it's best to send a French Letter, and request some Capotes Anglaise (English overcoats).
