April Fool's Day Cancelled?

In the News

April Fool's Day cancelled by businesses 'out of respect for all those fighting coronavirus pandemic'

Unsurprisingly, given the gravity of the current situation, it's unlikely we will be hearing about Spaghetti Trees or Left-Handed Burger King Whoppers this year. Which is probably for the best.

Yes it probably is for the best. It’s a shame as we can always do with a bit of lighthearted humour even in the gloomiest of times

Oh that's a shame, I love a good prank.

By the way, don't forget to swap up your old 'Jane Austen' Β£10 notes by 5pm today, if you've haven't already got rid of them.

Last chance at the banks!

Unrelated, I did hear the Oxford English Dictionary will be removing the word gullible from their next edition.

I've seem one or two April fools today, but they are tame by usual standards, which is probably fair enough.

One was that speed cameras are being switched off, and speed limits on roads are being abolished so people are outside for less time.

Seeing some of the driving hereabouts, I think many already believed that before today.

I've seen a few. Our football club realised one saying the mascot had transferred clubs and everyone was devastated, it was really funny and very well done.

I guess it was always going to happen very unfortunate but there are people out there fighting the Corona virus.

I dont think it needed to be cancelled, i dont think its insensitive to have a bit of fun, in the right context!. We should try not to lose our senses of humour, laughing is good for us, probably more so right now then ever.
