ASDA Deals Kicked out of HUKD

Other

ASDA, one of U.K.'s biggest supermarkets has been banned from HUKD and why? Anyone can make a safe assumption it was due to HUKD not getting any commission.

They've gotten greedy. lol

I've made a few comments on this site about the damage caused financially to this country by being in the EU and now on Hotukdeals (a german site) today's posts on hotukdeals which are purely about bicycles with no mention of the EU are checked before posting which hasn't happened for quite a while. In the past they would delete my posts for example if I mentioned bicycles that had EU or US branding and I stated which actual factory manufactured them in the far east with links to the evidence such posts would get deleted as I guess that would seem to devalue the product slightly and mean the site could lose revenue. I would also link to reliability data on cars often German branded that showed very poor reliability and excessively expensive repairs. Lastly of course I would make points in response to pro EU comments that would get deleted, leaving the pro EU comment without a response. Based on my experience I can assume many others have had their comments deleted that don't suit the moderators at hotukdeals.

As I've said before the moderation at hotukdeals is questionable at best and is often completely unfair. Which is why I went looking for a different shopping site and came to latestdeals. The moderation here is 1000% fairer to say the least. I don't post deals at hotukdeals anymore but do post comments and try to contribute to threads helping people where I can.

Hotukdeals are now trying to exploit their leading position in consumer shopping forums to generate more income. I'd be surprised if Asda are any different to Aldi or Lidl with regard affiliate income because all 3 brands tend to focus on minimising their costs considerably. Also there are other brands like poundland, home bargains and others that have a similar business approach. I think its more likely they had an arrangement that they would pay affiliate income and then didn't pay it to hotukdeals so that is the cause of the outright ban.

Thats a great feature for latestdeals then as they will have Asda deals so people will have to come to this site if they want to check on decent asda deals. If the more controlling hotukdeals starts dropping other retailers that is more reason to spend more time here at latestdeals where all deals are available.

Why even bother with hotukdeals postings anyway, postings here work towards amazon vouchers.

These days, you're just better off visiting HUKD as a guest with no account. People get far too defensive about a product.

Example: hotukdeals.com/deals/grid-ultimate-edition-for-google-stadia-for-30-3368188

Why would anyone in his/her right mind would pay £30, for a product that can't even be owned and can be removed from being accessed at any moment. Google discontinues services all the time and they have a list of services to be discontinued in the future.. lol!

Rockman I would never go with Stadia as no way is my internet connection good enough for that and prefer playing games with low input lag not more input lag. Sometimes I play old consoles on a CRT set and the feel of those games is far, far better than modern games, they react instantly and can improve many games even if the graphics don't meet modern standards.

However I have to say I have games on digital platforms like steam, google, xbox and playstation and such games could be removed and there is nothing I can do about it. However I tend to only go for very cheap deals on such platforms so hopefully I would have had my monies worth before they remove them.

I always buy a physical game where I can. I may not buy a PS5 or new Xbox if there is any restriction on shop bought games.

I'm willing to bet that Asda has done something to break their rules - paying someone to post their deals perhaps.

If it was about self-promotion then the HUKD staff themselves broke those rules a long, long time ago.

Rockman they've been pulled up on that - I've seen threads of people complaining. I've also seen threads about companies not allowed to self promote, which is what I'm guessing has happened here.

I've seen self-promotion on hotukdeals loads of times. In fact when I've criticised deals mentioning flaws in the product or where you can find it cheaper I've had quite insulting responses from people clearly financially connected to the deal as their strange and aggressive defence of the deal wouldn't make sense otherwise. I've even seen postings where the writing style seems identical between multiple posters in the same thread, same spelling errors or frequent use of the same words. I can see Asda getting warned about that if they did it but an outright ban seems unlikely especially as so many other companies do it on there and are still available.

I remember posting to a bicycle thread and gave a link to the actual manufacturer of the bike in the far east that clearly stated it made the bikes for that brand and I was threatened with legal action in the thread and then the hotukdeals removed my postings in that thread. Normally I get a bit annoyed when the atrocious hotukdeals moderators do stuff like that but it struck me funny at the time as seemed so ridiculous and the response was so comical.

To be honest I don't trust hotukdeals at all so I find it difficult to think that hotukdeals would ban Asda for self-promotion especially if clicking through to Asda can generate income for the hotukdeals site unless it was self-promotion where Hotukdeals don't financially benefit, i.e. no click through income. I use hotukdeals because of the great deals and some great community members on there but zero trust in the site itself.

Looks like Asda are back so perhaps it was they owed money and now they have paid it.

Just a heads up - I'm going to lock this topic as it was a year old and bumped up by someone who had an unfavourable experience at HUKD (we've since removed the comment). Whilst we do want to encourage open discussion if the comment is solely intended to disparage HUKD (and on a year old topic at that) then perhaps the feedback would be better placed on their own site, via their support email address or on one of their review pages (e.g. trustpilot) where hopefully they can respond and help improve the situation 👍 We hope that HUKD would extend the same grace towards us 🤞
