Are You Being Asked to Wear Masks Again?
Ask a Question
Our local surgery is now asking people to wear masks and also where I go for physio. So far I haven’t worn one. Will you agree to wearing one again?
If I needed to I would. Unfortunately they make it more difficult for me to hear people
Imnotcheap I am exactly the same like that. I didn’t realise how much I watch people’s lips when they talk. I also have problems talking to people with dark sunglasses on. I like to have eye contact as well.
eyeballkerry good to hear it's not just me. I know in a near by city there is huge strain on hospital because of flu
Our local hospital staff are wearing PPE again including the use of masks all the time. However they haven't asked patients to wear them just yet. Although last time they did, hardly anybody wore them. If I was required to and it would help then I would wear it no matter how uncomfortable or annoying it can be.
Swimmer94 I would wear mine again at the moment as it is so cold and would keep my face warm especially my nose.
eyeballkerry yeah this is so true! Wear masks just to keep your face warm!! My nose gets so red from the cold temperatures lol
My local hospital is asking everyone to wear masks again because of a surge in flu admissions. My mother was in hospital with flu a couple of months ago and I was asked to wear a mask whenever I visited her.
RegularComper91 Our family have all had a cold and cough but never too serious. I hope your mother made a speedy recovery, hospital are not the best places for comfort or quietness.
eyeballkerry She recovered well, thank you. She was in ICU for a bit of time but is now swiftly coming back to her normal active self again.
I haven't seen anything locally about having to wear a mask but it wouldn't bother me if I was asked too.
I went to the hospital this week and didn’t see any staff wearing masks, just saw two people in the waiting room with masks on.
Pjran This must be just certain areas around the uk. I have always seen the odd person wearing and would like to ask them why especially when they are out in the fresh air.
eyeballkerry some people have low immunity to viruses so they’re wise to wear a mask.
I haven’t seen anywhere asking for people but to wear them but i have noticed more people wearing them again. I have considered it
I don’t mind wearing one if need be, but I’d prefer not to. It’s never going to be something I’d want to do regularly
hspexy i believe many people will refuse to wear them or just not go to places where you have to wear them.
eyeballkerry yes and tbh I get it. The mask ‘protection’ isn’t as protective as some claim, so it’s silly, but for some, it’s peace of mind
Yeah I have noticed people wearing masks again, I think it's more for flu rather than COVID, if I'm asked to wear one I don't have problem wearing one
In work in a & e we being told to wear PPE again same as other departments around the hospital
My Dad had been ill this week with flu and bad chest and cough called the doctors to get a telephone appointment as usually happens these days. They didn’t have any telephone appointments only one face to face. How odd as didn’t want to spread what he has, he went but by his choice wore a mask . It’s respect if you’re not well to contain it..
I don't think we should be made to wear them because there was not any definitive evidence that they stopped the spread of covid, but I believe that everyone should consider wearing them to try and protect themseves from getting the flu, especially those with a weak immune system.
My doctors have a notification up for all patients to wear a mask. They have a box of masks near the entrance .
I haven't stopped wearing masks since the start of COVID. It's difficult because I suffer with Agoraphobia and panic attacks so controlling my breathing is really hard but I feel it gives me and my loved ones more protection against COVID, cold, flu etc etc. I hate been unwell even with a cold I'm ill for 5 weeks then it takes a month or two to get my strength back. So anything I can do to not be ill I'm doing. People look at you like your insane because I'm wearing a mask which is a good thing in away as there keep a distance.
KAW18 I used to be homebound, shy, and afraid of going out (that's homebound, anyway), but a positive change in life turned my life around and that old me is someone I don't want to be ever again.
I'm not wearing that nonsense again especially as it's pointless, makes it hard to breathe, and makes glasses foggy.
If you want to wear it, knock yourself out.
PhilipMarc My husband is the same as you. Plus he wears glasses as well which he also found always steamed up with a mask.
PhilipMarc I did on Monday but only cos I'm sick and at the gp and don't want to pass it on if I can help it. Wouldn't bother otherwise
When it was first around I did wear them for first week or so but then stopped, found them worse and struggled to breathe properly with them
xKJG93 most don't wear them properly as you are meant to wear them over your nose.
You want to try and teach wearing them especially phonics which is what we teach to kids when learning to read
Waste of time! If people are so scared of the made up lies then they should stay at home, and let others live their lives normally!
Fatabelly I love social distance I miss it. It was lovely not having people near me. I may go back to coughing at people in the supermarket to keep them away from me
Jerseydrew what a great idea! It is far too peopley out there!….people in their social bubbles to match their selfish mental bubbles.
Jerseydrew I know what you mean. I can’t stand all the kissing and hugging sometimes with strangers. My daughter owns a pub and the customers are forever hugging and kissing each other and they only saw them the day before.
eyeballkerry that doesn't surprise me I think the alcohol makes them more friendly and that they are actually friends
Jerseydrew Oh no, they start hugging and kissing before they have had alcohol, I make sure I stand behind the bar, no thank you to all that nonsense. You hit the nail on the head with the friends bit!
Never wore masks during any of "that" time, I've not been ill since 2019, never had that virus they claimed existed. Who'd have thought that generations before us survived various things to enable us to be here today.
zyobe I work with kids it's standard to get ill. Especially with the ones I work with. My lot are grim, we've literal window lickers where i am and parents send them to school regardless. Dose them up on calpol and ignore the phone so they don't collect them because work is more important get to school at 3 and say oh look I've a miss call
I've some sort of virus and signed off work atm. My Dr's made me wear one. It was fine as I didn't want to spread germs but it was hard to breathe with it on.it was nice to social distance from others and the mask is a nice way to get others to stay away from you
I'm housebound, only venturing out if I have to physically see a doctor at the surgery or the hospital. I try to get phone consultations as much as possible. The Dr surgery asks people who have cold/flu or covid symptoms to please wear a mask within the surgery which I think is fair enough. I wear one every time I go out anyway, and yes, I get the looks as if I'm a bit gaga. I don't like people so I don't really care lol
For the first time in ages I was served by a young man at the till wearing a face mask. The press have been reporting lots of hospital admissions with flu and Covid.
I had an hospital appointment this morning, all the nurses ect.. had masks on, but I wasn't ask to wear one and some patients had them some didn't
martinlufc5637 I went to a private hospital today. The receptionist were wearing their masks on their chins and i saw one nurse walking around wearing it properly.
