Babies, Babies, Babies!

Other

I wonder what the birth rate will be around Christmas time. Lots of time for recreational activities but I wonder if that will be balanced by the inability of lots of couples to get together around this time...I mean social distancing and all! Also no opportunity for one night stands that may result in little accidents.

On a sideline my bestie has just told me her daughter is expecting twins but conception was by ivf before this pandemic.

I believe their will be a baby boom and some that's not really wonted sadly to be conceived though abuse. Maybe it's best time for couples who won't to conceive but have had no time before due to work commitments but again NHS strain but if your healthy you can grow a baby without consultation or pay for scans privately I had a 3d one and was only 26 pounds

Ahh how lovely for your bestie and her daughter. I think that people need to be careful during this time. Even after this is over the NHS will still be recovering. Plus given what I went through I don't think that anyone should go through a pregnancy without being able to consult someone. Being healthy doesn't mean you will have a healthy pregnancy unfortunately so you need the NHS at such a time and at the moment the NHS just isn't in a place to support a baby boom.

There is the flipside to this. The divorce rate has gone up in China.

i reckon a massive baby boom will happen. i know a few couples that dont live with their spouse have actually isolated and quarantined together so they can stay together.

tbh Johnny I think the government does need to be a bit more forthright in their messages. Chris Whitty says the same old thing every single time despite it saying this is an urgent update. He tells us three things and does not explain any of them, forgetting explanations are often needed for those of limited understanding or the belligerent few who think they are not subject to rules.

Unfortunately many adults are like children and need to have things explained to them. I would imagine people are now switching off when Chris Whitty appears and I think they should have several different people popping up during programme intervals giving one simple message and explaining it. Like: It would be unwise to put any plans to add to your family into action at present because it will take quite some time for the NHS to recover from the present crisis and the top class care we have come to expect may not be available.

Too many flout rules under the banner of personal freedom without thinking about the impact on society and lives. Not obeying rules equals anarchy and that is a road we do not want to go down.

Loved your message, funny and to the point!

Lynibis I agree.

Now I'm off to the garden to get my sweet peas planted whilst it's still sunny.

Have a good weekend.

As a midwife, I am absolutely dreading the Nov/dec baby boom. We already have a manic sept/Oct baby boom each year with Christmas and new year babies 😂🥰. Always something that gets the baby boom started! Can imagine it being more busier than 9 months post fifty shades of grey release 😝

Sorry, but all I can think to say is why are humans so stupid? There is no excuse for unplanned pregnancies in this day and age and all I can do is repeat what I suggested in another thread.....for government to encourage people to put off having a child until the crisis is over and the NHS has had time to recover.
