Some vegans do get emotional seeing fish and meat for sale so to avoid this they need to shop elsewhere.

I agree, the majority of people eat meat and fish. We all know it usually comes in packets at a supermarket unless you shop at 'farm shops'. Would they have preferred that it was just thrown away rather than being reduced and sold?

I also saw this yesterday and had the same thoughts as to why an octopus is any different from any other sea or land creature that we eat. Obviously an octopus is an acquired taste and maybe should only be sold at specialist retailers and not main stream supermarkets.

I do sympathise with his sentiment. To be selling it so cheaply shows very little disregard for nature. We have become such a disposable society.

That said, I am a meat eater and am not averse to the whoopsie section!

I think it would be even worse if they were just thrown away, they are already dead. I could understand it more if they were alive and by choosing them it was a death sentence.

I'm going to be the pedantic one here and point out it wasn't a baby octopus, it was a fully grown adult of one of the smaller species, it says as much in the article.

Also I don't get why people are getting their knickers in a twist over it, things have to be reduced to sell it regardless of what it is.
