Bad Deals

Latest Deals

Why are there so many deals rated highly on this site which are most of the time not even reduced or barely discounted and yet on the most popular page? Sorry if this sounds offensive at all I just don't understand why there are so many bad deals being voted up unless it's popular original posters voting each others deals up?

I have often wondered this in the past and have now come to realise that it is most likely loyalty to those certain members who post. There are particular members on here who regularly get dozens of likes on their deals, no matter how good or bad that deal is, because other members want to feel loyal as they know the poster very well.

This is the only thing I can think of.

The 'popular' deal page usually comes up first and because of that, those who like for their daily 5 x 5 points will like any old thing on the first page, hence they become even more popular.

That's why I always switch to latest unless there is something real good on Popular deals. I also go on other pages sometimes search if I need something specific.

I sometimes think the same but again it's a public site different people like different things

I personally won't like anything unless I think its a good deal and often don't get my 25 daily points for likes or alternatively only get 25 points even though I've liked many more items. I see lots of terrible deals with tiny discounts for items that are poor quality anyway and not worth buying.

Yep this is exactly what I mean and I'm confused as to why they are on here. I have reported a few for not being good value but they stay up regardless so that's why I wondered if it was due to them being favoured members 🤷‍♂️

mattdinig I think its because liking deals grants you points and many just like anything to get those points rather than look at the deals themselves. Same with posting deals in the first place you get a lot of points for posting a deal so it makes sense if you can't find a decent deal to post a bad deal just to get the points. Not something I would do as it spoils the site but many don't care they are just looking to get free amazon vouchers. I'm looking to get Amazon vouchers too but not at the expense of recommending poor deals.

You've seen some with tiny discounts - I CAN BEAT THAT! (is there a prize?) I've seen some that are exactly the same price as the regular price, sometimes on items that are under £1. Furthermore those "deals that aren't deals" usually have several likes.

I guess its to do with what people like and also people just liking 5 deals on the front page to get their 25 points. Ive found some great deals on clothes for my teenage son with massive savings that ive shared on here and with parents i know, they love my deals because they have boys the same age that are into the same brands which without the discounts/deals are ridiculous prices, by posting them here i might get a couple of likes. Whereas a pack of 4 chocolate bars might be reduced by 50p and they can get 100 likes. At the end of the day the majority of people any age, gender etc love chocolate, whereas not everyone is into certain branded mens clothes 🤷🏻‍♀️

mattdinig This opinion has been raised many times but I honestly don't think there will be a restriction or solution anytime soon. We all have to be honest - a good deal is subjective. Has it got a great discount? Is it just copied from a website daily like a catalogue, Is it relevant to me? Has the poster put any extra details in the deal? There are so many members here and I am sure lots of deals are relevant to them and others just copied from one site or, worse still, only ever classed as in-store only. (it makes the member lazy and it is never expired because 'who can tell?') Personally I hate clothing deals that make me have to waste time going to the site because there are no sizes listed on the deal - I completely understand that sizes run out but if the deal is fresh I want to know if they ever had my size available. I would prefer the likes to be scrapped. I am still determined to only give them to, what I consider, a good freebie or a bargain and we have to realise that many 'buyers' will go straight to the deal without giving a 'like'.

It's because some points gatherers would sell their souls to the devil if he offered them five points for liking a post, the 100 they get for posting deals that aren't actually deals or actually totally rubbish deals (but will usually go unnoticed) are too much for them to resist.

I will not post a deal unless I find it's good value, usually someone has beat me to it, that's one of the few times I like a deal, because I know it's a good or a worthwhile deal. If there was a dislike button on deals I would probably be suffering from a repetitive strain injury in my clicking finger.

I saw yesterday someone posted deal on eBay 50ml hand sanitizer lidl brand for £9.99 , wow I reported it as self promoting as don’t think anyone would think it’s a good deal unless you want to sell it yourself , ( in Lidl it costs less than a pound ) , but also couldn’t believe there was one person who liked the deal 😂 obviously apart of herself , what a joke , it’s been removed now as it’s a deal website no pay 10x more for an item

loveglitches I saw that one and wondered if it was legit. I've also seen a set of deals repeatedly shared, expired and then shared again some days later, even though they had never run out of stock. There will always be someone who try to buck the system.....because they can. 😐
