Bad Drivers!

Ask a Question

What is it with really BAD drivers...could not believe a car pulled right out in front of me...A HEARSE....I dont mind little cars...nipping out really quick in front....but this hearse is a really long vehicle.

Anybody else's blood pressure been raised by bad drivers?

Drivers who don't indicate especially at roundabouts annoy me big time or drivers who don't say thank you 😤

I actually find it quite creepy that it's a hearse.

What really gets me is when road users don't bother using their indicators. You cross the road thinking it is safe to do so assuming that the car is going straight on, only then to be finding yourself having to run across, as that car turns towards you.

RegularComper90 well creepy! ..

Oh I've had to bolt across the road a few times due to the driver being a twit....I find before I know it my fingers are sending them universal signs ✌...not this one lol.

It drives me mad too. I know I probably shouldn't, for my own safety, but I don't speed up. If they turn after I've started crossing the road and they haven't indicated, it's their fault and they better slow down.

What kinda annoys me is that they don't let other drivers know if I'd when they're turning, as if no one else is driving.

I seem to encounter a bad driver every Friday on my way to bookbugs with my son. Last week, there was a bus who had stopped at the stop, I stopped to check if it was safe to pass him, indicated to pull out and just as i was about the go the car behind me went and i nearly drove right into the side of him! He hadn't indicated that he was coming out. I ended up driving behind him for a while and when we stopped at the traffic lights I stared him out and showed how angry I was. I wouldn't have bothered if it was just me but I had my son in the car! Where I live people seem to be really impatient and I've been cut up at roundabouts lots, overtaken where it wasn't safe and people sitting far too close to my car.

I have come to realise that every car I have ever had as been invisible and can only be seen by me, I can't think of any other reason why cars will pull out right in front of me or even pedestrians (especially ones that are in a car park, having just got out of a CAR) walk right in front of me. This week I had a driver try and overtake everyone on a single carriageway with oncoming cars, because we had all pulled over to let an ambulance with blues and twos on, go through. I did every hand gesture known, think I even made some up as did others, but no despite an ambulance nearly in her boot desperately trying to get round to save a life, she was the most important person in the world, she even stopped along side me and other cards, to scream and shout oblivious to the ambulance. What if it was her loved one that passed away because every second untreated was fatal?

ellenmcmurchie I was fuming, probably looked like a cartoon character with steam coming out of my ears. I wanted to follow her and tell her exactly what I thought of her, doubt any of it would have made her think she was in the wrong though

ellenmcmurchie bus drivers are a special kind of idiot. They're a nightmare round here and just pull out regardless of what's on the road and like your experience, the company doesn't care

You'd think they especially would be careful. They're used to driving slowly. They need the vehicle for their business. Hopefully it wasn't in use at the time...? That would be worse.

I was driving today and on the roundabout the drivers didn't specify whether they were going left or right. Utter mess. Those that do it should have their license revoked.

A few years back we were driving down a country lane when we saw a horse box coming towards us at speed. My husband had actually put our car in reverse and was putting us as far into the hedge as possible when it hit us. We got out exchanged details my husband even went to check on the other drivers wife and then he said it was our fault as we hit him! I went absolutely mad. He jumped back in horsebox and literally tried to run me over my husband had to pull me out of the way as I had my back to him. We drove straight to the local police station and reported it. My husband repaired our car himself and then a few months later when our insurance was due for renewal it had gone up. My husband rang, the horse box owner had claimed on our insurance and they had paid out without even getting in touch with us!

Janhrrs WOW!!! I'm stunned that not only people can get paid for lying...but an insurance company paid out with out not only just there word...but not even hearing your side/evidence....those companies never want to part with money. Some dirty rotten people out there.

ellenmcmurchie it was going back a good few years but when they told my husband on the phone he completely lost it (he's really layed back and placid) I heard him shouting and swearing and had to come and take the phone off him. He was absolutely fuming. Needless to sat we've never used them since. Drivers attitudes are awful though. I drive on the motorway most days, I used to have a large people carrier kia sedona. Since getting my little beetle I get cut up constantly without signals of course. The beetle is more powerful than kia was but because its so small people don't think it is.

The main thing about bad driving that I dislike is what I would describe as 'aggressive' driving. i.e people tailgating and intimidating you. Often when I am out in the car I am effected by this stupidity. I cant say that I am a 'Miss Daisy' sort and I am certainly not a maniac either, generally driving with kids in the car.

I was rear ended a couple of years ago by someone doing just that and it really bugs me.

My other half is ex military and without talking specifics, his latter work involved close protection driving.

Obviously he is a highly trained driver and very competent and safe as well as being very aware of everything around him. I have to admit that I feel I and the kids particularly are on very safe hands when he is behind the wheel.

I generally pootle around in our little 'puddle jumper' as i call it for school runs etc and find tailgating and pushing more prominent, seemingly because I am in a small car, which actually is very nippy really.

I have to say that on a few occasions my other half has gone into auto when some stupid drivers have been far too close. And on occasions he has stopped them and told them what he thinks of them.

In this day and age with the use of dash cams in so many cars now, it makes me wonder why people feel they can get away with such dangerous driving. perhaps it is because the police have neither the manpower or resources to follow up actions that are not going to get convictions.

They only saving grace is that I understand that there is a police portal to which you can upload footage of dangerous driving and in particular, driving using mobile phones. This footage is viewed and used if the law is broken.

So perhaps dash cams are the way to go?

I know that some people deem them as another tick in the box for 'the ambulance chaser' in this sue everyone society. But I think that maybe they are a deterrent too.

Something else which kinda annoys me is when people park their cars on the pavement, so much so that it forces us pedestrians to walk in the road, let alone those who are physically disabled or have buggies. I am seeing this a lot lately and is becoming more and more common.

Yes! I lost my last job because of a bad driver nearly running me off the road and causing a crash! I called her a b**ch and told her to learn to drive, so she made a complaint and my company sacked me because I called someone a b**ch and it had nothing to do with work and extremely dangerous driving in her behalf!
