Bank Holiday Monday No Mayday

In the News

Normally, the Early May bank holiday falls on the first Monday of May. However, in 2020, the first May Bank Holiday will not be on May 4, but instead will take place on Friday May 8.

Millions of calendars and diaries have WRONG May Bank Holiday date after government moved it from Monday to Friday for VE Day

I'm not happy with it because that's my birthday and it means when I go out for my birthday the whole of England will be off work. I know exactly what I'm going to be doing for my birthday and it would be busy anyway but now with it being a bank holiday, nightmare!

Well, anyone that works in sales or hospitality will be working, so not everyone will be off.

It hasn't been made public very well I only learnt from a friend then read up on it I don't see why we can't have 2 bank holidays

In 1995, it was moved to the second Monday of May for one year only, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Nazis surrendering to end World War II – VE Day.

I seen a post on facebook of a couple complaining because they booked their wedding 2 years ago for the bank holiday and now they reckon half their guests cant make it because its not bank holiday (a lot of their guests are teachers)
