Banksy Shop in Croydon

In the News

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-49895129

Are you a Banksy fan? I used to have one of his pieces opposite where I lived, and then the council painted over the ‘graffiti‘ lol

And then there was the time 2 commercial bins with Banksy pieces on them were confiscated by the same council...which got stolen at the council depot the night after

I like his work and I've seen quite a lot of it around London. Although, I'm not such a big fan of Croydon, so I probably won't be visiting the shop. Especially if you're just going to be standing outside in the rain.

Lol you paint a good picture of Croydon 😜 In fact, I can actually imagine Banksy creating his next masterpiece of people peeking through the windows of the shop wearing rain ponchos and holding up umbrellas!

I don't see why they're praised so much or why they're sold for so much. The world really is upside down.

One of his pieces with the MPs in parliament as chimps just got sold for £9.9 million. I understand his appeal, but for those prices? People have too much money to spare these days

I like how he gets his political messages across and i like his unique style. His work does make me think as well. I used to work in Bristol where there is still a lot of his "graffiti" around and I always thought they were quite cool. I don't think they are worth the price tag though, it seems to go against what he stands for.

I agree. It’s ironic how his artwork is for everyone, but they’ve been carved up to those who have money. So not worth it.

I guess if the people like them, there’s no real reason for the council to take it down. It’s usually only removed after complaints, or if the council already have a zero tolerance policy on graffiti
