Is Banning Food and Drink on Public Transport a Good Idea?
Ask a Question
So the government are thinking of ways to tackle obesity and this week it’s been reported that they are considering the banning people from eating and drinking on public transport
is this a good idea? Would you support it?
It will make no difference, people drink alcohol, run after someone else to avoid paying for the trip, and no one oversees it. I use public transport every day in London, and I've never seen anyone on the platforms or trains doing any kind of control, so this will never work.
I agree. Also there’s the impact it will have on the food vendors in and around the stations - I guess they’d have to close, so where would they go?
It makes no difference because London is pretty much out of control and the cops can't be bothered to do anything.
Yes, when I was in London I hated the smell of chicken burgers while I was traveling by bus.
You should try the night tube...plenty of greasy kebabs smells wafting through the carriages, on top of the stench of intoxication
London has turned into a degenerated city. hspexy
No respect, people eat, take dumps anywhere, keep the shopping carts, stab, throw acid, steal.. and it's all perfectly acceptable as people learned to treat it as the new "normal."
This isn't exclusive to London only but the situation in London has become quite unstable.
In U.S. some were scared because they thought they heard a bomb:
Also, some people have to eat at set times for medical reasons.
Not saying that's the case though for the most part, especially at half past midnight when the stink of donner Kebab permiates every pore.
May as well ban cars whilst we are at it, due to the amount of people who have been involved in serious car accidents.
And ban LD also, because the addiction of it has left some of us deprived of sleep.
You agree with ban smoking, don't you? Food in these places is the same case. It leaves an awful smell because people are too lazy to eat somewhere else that doesn't affect anyone near and have respect for others.
Boris Johnson has a severely broken country to fix but doubt he will.
No, this is not an idea that is going to progress very far. People would see it as too much of an infringement on their civil liberties. Most would ignore the ban and how would they enforce it.
I agree. London in particular would be an issue, as no one currently observes the ban on alcohol - even an MP was caught having a tipple on the overground lol
