Banning Headers for Football

In the News

The Scottish FA is to consider a ban on children under 12 heading the ball, following a report linking dementia to football

England are also considering a ban

I am not a football fan, but as far as I was aware, the header is a useful tactic in the game, so I’m sure the competitive players will use it regardless of a ban?

What do you think of this?

If you get a chance, watch a film called Concussion, starring Will Smith. It is about this very subject and will definitely make all who watch it think twice. It is a true story.

thanks. I think I saw the trailer for this before, but it didn’t interest me, so I’m never saw it. Nor would I ever consider using my head to hit a ball - knowing me, I’d miss and take out an eye or 2! Lol

Just.. now? lol

They're only making themselves look concerned because a study was released but had it not, they'd not bother.

Regardless, even though there are effects to it, most countries who enjoy football and especially the young ones won't really care about it.

It's like those anti-vapers you have now pretending to be concerned about people's health but are they also against tobacco? No.

Thanks. I never saw it previously, but I will check it out. It would be interesting to find out the damage caused by a lucrative career

I am not a football fan but my partner is a huge lover of all things football. Everytime I watch him play, I worry when he headers the ball.. sometimes the speed / force in which the ball hits their head is crazy, I’m like how does that not hurt! I would much rather it was banned all together!
