If Bar Snacks Were Free......
Ask a Question
If you walk into a pub what would be your perfect snack to see FREE on the bar.
If i had to choose it eould be crisps or olives. But I don't know if I'd want free snacks as i heard they are full of germs.
Just started running a pub with my daughter, you’ll be amazed what customers want, last week it was roast potatoes in goose fat, they love it.
eyeballkerry that used to be a favourite with the regulars where I was a barmaid years ago. I loved it, the potatoes came out and the tips went up! Happy customer = generous customer
eyeballkerry ps I am soooo jealous. I would love to still be working behind a bar, my favourite job ever and running your own one, brilliant. All the best with it
Janhrrs Thanks, we had a great opening night and Karaoke was brilliant, I didn’t sing by the way or I would empty the pub!
In days long gone it was only nuts and cheese and both of those were stopped because of health risks. I have a pet hate about double dipping too so, unless the options can be spiked on a stick, and under domes then it would be a 'no' from me. That's not a judgement on the food you provide and are clearly passionate about - just an opinion on the standard of punters' personal hygiene and persistent coughers.
I do agree but it seems punters are happy to have bar snacks, as with a spiked stick, cocktail sticks are not allowed to be made readily available, the worlds gone mad. So many rules in health and safety it getting ridiculous. Your allowed to wear a wedding band but no offer jewellery, does that mean it is impossible to chock on wedding band, madness.
eyeballkerry Crazy indeed! but my mouth watered when I read about those roasties.
I was in France last month visiting family and the café/bar we were at brought pâté on bread for every table. That was nice!
I used to do bar work in addition to my main job and one Sunday another barmaid took me aside and said not to eat anything on the bar. She had earlier seen that bloody meat had dripped from an upper shelf in fridge on to wrapped cheese below and had seen the landlord unwrap and wash the cheese, dry it and proceed to dish it out with crisps etc. Yuk, I nearly chucked up there and then.
I like peanuts, crisps/nachos, cheese, chips, olives, wasabi peas, etc, but I'd want an individual serving rather than a shared dish
