Basic First Aid for Someone Having a Epileptic Seizure
Help
Hi how many of you have come across someone having a Seizure/Fit/convulsion ? Was you scared ? do you think our kids should be taught the basics in first Aid at school ?
My name is Joanne / Jojo to my friends, I have a condition called Epilepsy this causes me to have Grand Mal Seizures { epilepsy s caused by abnormal electrical activity throughout the brain. If a person is having a seizure . the Grand mal seizure is the worse ..
SIGNS N SYMPTOMS
IF a person suddenly drops to the floor and either becomes ridged or starts to shake violently . They occasionally bite their tongue or side of the mouth ,froth at the mouth, breathing becomes noisy and irratic and their limbs kick out and move uncontrollably , occasionally they loose control of their bladder or soil themselves ,they are more then likely having a seizure ... Epileptics whilst having a Grand Mal seizure are unaware of their surroundings and can injure themselves by hitting or punching objects that are in their way ...
Fist aid for seizures
firstly if your not alone ask the other person to ring and ambulance why you are making sure the area is safe by moving chairs and any other items that could hurt you of the person having the fit ... then turn the person gently onto one side. This will help the person breathe. turn the person onto their side and place a jumper behind the person so they cannot roll back ,,, place the person on the front with front leg bent at an angle so they canot roll straight onto their front,,, and lift their arm up so its practically doing the same job as the knee,,,, prevention ... do not restrict their movements . do not put anything in their mouth just check their are no obstructions . usually u can hear the person breathing if they have wet them self just try cover them to hide their embarrassment, Keep crowds away and stay with the person until
the ambulance crew arrive ...

Everyone should know first aid. I only got taught it because I'm a nursery nurse. It's so important, you never know when you'll need it, I don't know why it's not taught in schools, it should be compulsary

My mum was a nurse and she taught me CPR. I've not use on any one yet. And hope I do not use it. And all so I was taught at school has well. But they have now stop teaching it at school. Not sure why. They should bring it back.
