BBC TV License Fee for over 75's Postphoned to 1st August
In the News
Really pleased to hear this especially at a time like this
The new policy would have seen the current Government-funded scheme that grants all households with people over 75 a free TV licence scrapped. Instead, only households where someone over 75 claims Pension Credit would have been entitled to the free TV licence.
These changes were meant to come into effect on 1st June 2020, but the BBC has announced they will now be delayed to 1st August due to the "exceptional circumstances" the country faces amid the coronavirus pandemic
I came to chat to post about this (you beat me to it) their generosity knows no bounds (nor does my sarcasm).
The blood sucking leaches are probably hoping that by August, if the worst comes to the worst, there will be far fewer over 75s to start charging for a licence. It might have been better if they'd delayed the charge indefinitely, until the crisis is over - or better still abandon their plans altogether.
Hi davidstockport I agree that it has not been postponed for long enough. I was thinking that it would be a extra 2 months of no fee (better than nothing) But now it's just awful thinking about how there will be less over 75 years old's in August. I hope that they will just scrap the fee x
Dani1 I don't know why they couldn't show some common sense when imposing the licence fee, in my opinion it should have been free to households where ALL residents are over 75, why should households have a free licence if just one person is over 75? That isn't fair on those who have to pay.
davidstockport I agree. Edit : Sorry I hadn't finished typing. They are all about the money and sadly I don't think that will change anytime soon.
