Other

In your own experience when do paying in the shop, what is the difference of paying by card or paying by cash. How it affects your bank or does paying by cash saves a little pence?

Paying by card may be more convenient, but I think paying by cash is more beneficial because when you pay by card you can very easily get carried away and go over your intended budget.

It depends on how much cash you have, and how much on your card. And it also depends on the size of the shop. For eg, if you go in for a big shop, and you have £50, I usually count up each item I put into the trolley to make sure I won’t go over. Whereas when I go in with £100 I shop comfortably, knowing I have the money to spend.

I guess it all comes down to every individual and how sensible you are with budgeting, spending and saving.

Yes it depends on what kind if shopping do want in a day. Nice cash for limited items and for card when exceed to 100£. But as i have heard in mums group, Its better to pay cash as it will not get charge from the bank. But paying always by card there is a transaction charge. So we must consider this one, how true is this. It may be depends on the bank ? Are all bank are doin this? I dont know too. But better pay by cash if we can if ever.

When my card offered me cashback, it was a no brainer - i used my card for everything. But then the EU laws took that perk away, but you have extra protection with cards, especially credit cards, so i continue to use them

I mostly pay for things by card. I find it's faster and more convenient, especially since contactless payment was introduced. I've been to a few food related places in London that have gone cash free, so you're only option is to pay by card. It must also be more convenient for companies and shop managers. You don't have to cash up tills at the end of the day, arrange for money collections/drops and staff can't dip into the till.

Convenience - Card

Beneficial - Cash

I personally prefer to use a card instead but doing so limits me to the places I can use because most are cash-only. Whether it's because it costs them too much (commissions), card brand not supported (if you have an AMEX) or what have you.

Say, I want to go to a cafe? Either have cash or take a hike. xD
