Sorry but they most probably already got top of the range package mobile phones and TV subscription. If this was to be then houses should be checked before given if have had broadband installed in last 6 months. Working people deserve help too.

This ^^ it really annoys me that I am not entitled to anything ever because I’m not on benefits. I struggle to get through each month on a £700 wage for working 20 hours a week, and I see all these ads for “you could get this grant and this free thing” and then you read the small print and it says only if you are on benefits 😠

Ann1984 workers also deserve help. But before COVID people put down benefit claimants, but now many of those sneerers are in that position themselves. Remember it also includes disabled etc who through no fault of their own cannot work. Anyway would you really want such a basic package?

Completely irrelevant for me as we don't have a landline. Got rid of it few years ago cause my son thought the phone was a toy and kept hiding it cost a fortune in batteries and mostly nuisance calls anyway

That’s a shame Imnotcheap, I know kids & pets can cause havoc, but shame you had to get rid of landline. Thought some offered without need of a landline, but could be wrong (sorry thinking about broadband)

Followed your link. What an absolute **** of a website.

And as for ESA eligibility, I think you'll find that it's only for people who have sat on their arse all their life and haven't worked at all as opposed to people who have worked for years and found themselves on the sick.

ivenailedit yeah some people are entitled to it due to ill health, but when you see people with 5 plus kids not one working or doing the basic 10hrs needed to keep all the benifits they receive really annoy of working class people. So should be means tested that if fit for work put a sock on end of it get childcare like everyone else and work for it and am not saying the sick.

It’s always been the case. If you have worked hard all your life you get no help at all. Furloughed employees are getting 80 % of their wages not knowing if they will even have a job at the end of all this and loads have lost their jobs already, but those who have never worked are still getting 100% of their benefits sitting at home with all the mod cons

Not everyone on benefits sits on the bum at home getting everything for free all day everyday. Most people on benefits are claiming due to no fault of their own and a lot of people who have claimed or currently claim have had jobs in the past or can only work certain hours a week and need extra help towards rent and bills. The stigma against those who claim needs to stop.

Agree chelseaturpin as they are forgetting about those born with disabilities etc who can never work so have to claim. It’s sad as before COVID people put down benefit claimants but now many of those sneerers are in that position themselves & might still be in the future the way things are going. You just never know!

Couldnt agree more. I always say dont judge a book by the cover, dont assume that if someone claims benefits that they are lazy and wont work. I have epilepsy and biploar disorder and would happily work a job that offers 40+ hours a week work but a lot of people are scared to hire me incase I have a seizure or a manic or depressive episode.

I think its a great idea for people struggling and need benefits. I can also see why people get annoyed with so many people getting benefits as how many of the benefit claims are genuine? Also what happens to anyone who does abuse the benefits system? Answer to that one is simple... nothing.

Getsome i agree that there are people that abuse the system but not everyone does abuse the system. I know someone who regularly abuses the system whilst working she has been reported many a time but a lot of the time you'll find nothing gets done about it as its someone else word no proof. So with no ounce of proof they wont even investigated

chelseaturpin I never said everyone abusing the system but a lot do and as you said nothing happens to that person who does abuse the system. So if nothing happens to someone fiddles the system and gets money for nothing then why would people want to go out and work for money when they can just abuse the system. More serious consequences are needed for people who do abuse the system and then hopefully that will help reduce all the fraudulent claims.

Getsome i agree more serious consequences need to be put in place, but thats not gunna stop of lot of the claimants doing this. Theyll see it as a job to claim benefits as theyd get more than actually working.

chelseaturpin You see i think it would but people would be against the idea because of human rights. I would have them in jail but people would think that is too harsh.

I'm not saying that everyone is taking the pee, but a lot of people are. I just have to look at my family to see what's going on.

My point is that people who have worked for years and years and found themselves on the sick don't get the same benefits as someone who has done nothing all their lives. This includes prescriptions (in England), dental and a whole pile of stuff.

Surely it should be the other way around.

I told my employer that im coming into work regardless if im ill as they wont pay me and too me that is wrong as i should have days available for when i am actually ill. People have abused and abused the system that much that honest people out grafting get shafted and layabouts get things handed to them on plate.

Getsome i know a lot of people on the benefits sytem at the moment that arent getting anything, they've lost their homes, their children, been made redundant. They've had to give up their homes to move in with other family members, they have to rely on food banks just to feed their children. They go without food so they can feed others before themselves. I know some young mums that have ended up taking up sex work just to make quick money if they were getting everything on the dole system they wouldnt have to resort to food banks to pay for food or resort to sex work.

TheChimp no they shouldn't you only need to stand in a school playground to know who's fiddling the system. They go on about there amazing holidays 3 times a year designer stuff when new comes out when they work basic 10hrs a week or none. Fiddling by doing cash in hand jobs if government paid to dob people in I be first to sign up

chelseaturpin All the proof that they need is in the newspapers and morning telly that they consume. They need to vent their misdirected frustrations at a target that won't snap back as hard as the source of their problems. Some of these unemployed people might be doing volunteer work or taking a paid job that they or someone else could benefit from as part of a Government programme or off their own backs to gain some recent work experience to keep their CV "alive" in the hopes that they might get a job that might have the hours and be for more that just a few months.

Why paid someone to do a job when you can ring up the DWP or get someone to do it for cheap or for free and get the best out of them by telling them how good they are? You are a really good worker, but not good enough to put on the payroll. It eats away at your profits that you need to build up to open more stores in the country.

I am sure that quite a few of these unemployed would much rather been employed and enjoy the respect that it brings when dealing with people from housing and health. The employed are taken alittle bit more seriously. It also helps to have a job that is harder to replace with AI and produces more GDP into the economy when you are trying to access services to get your needs met. IMHO

You can get a 50 inch plasma tvs at mates rates from Frank Gallagher. 😉

Ask no questions, shh be quiet.

My cousin's bf just flat out lied when trying to claim PIP because he couldn't be bothered to work. He got the benefit by saying he was dsylexic. He's did a course in college without any problems.

Do you know why? Because he's not dyslexic.

Im not saying everyone is a lazy good for nothing but there is lots of them and i dont need to read papers or see tv i can see it first hand. I do believe people need benefits to help them but far too many people abuse the system and will keep abusing the system, so people that do need help will struggle to help.
