Trying to fly to USA for my cousins wedding (Michigan) and its is eye watering expensive. Cheaper to go NY.
Any tricks/tips/Suggestions
Thank you.
Hi,
My first thought is whether you might fly to Chicago rather than Detroit, to cut your flight costs in half.
I just had a quick look on Skyscanner.net for return flights in May to test it.
- London to Detroit with one stop £616 return
- London to Chicago with one stop £310 return
To drive from Chicago to Detroit takes about 5 hours (roughly 280 miles), or you could fly for less than £150 return.
I guess it depends where in Michigan the wedding is.
I often use Skyscanner to narrow down which airlines to use, then switch to the airlines' own websites that will often display a whole month and flag which are the cheapest days to fly.
Changing your departure day, or return day, by a day or two can often make a whopping difference to the price.
I second skyscanner check out non direct flights as well as direct , Jet2 normally have some discount for members not sure if they go to the airport you want though but definitely handy for further flights also if your planning on taking checked in luggage its normally cheap to book it with ur flight rather than add it on later
You can join Jack's flight club. They find very cheap flight and email you about it (or follow it on Facebook and keep and eye on their page)
I've had a quick look this morning, 10/9/19 - 20/9/19 (unsure of your dates)
£260 RTN direct flights with Air Canada from Manchester To Newark (New York). I expect this price to sell out end of this weekend!
Newark - Detroit direct RTN flights £149 with Delta. Delta have 2 flights per day from Newark.
Both proper airlines so meals & luggage inc
All on Skyscanner buddy! You will struggle finding deals direct to Detroit
