Best Book You've Read

Other

What's the best book that you've ever read and the reason why.

My favourite book is faults in our stars by john green. My friend gave it to me to read as I said I've never cried whilst reading a book. This book made me cry more than any other book ever has.

I cannot give a best book as I am extremely fussy and will not read anything that doesn't grab me, after all who wants to waste hours reading a second rate story? However when I was about 20 I read a set of books (the Catherine books) by Juliet Benzoni and I loved them. I then got into Wilbur Smith big time and a trio of books called Monsoon, Birds of Prey and Blue Horizon, can't remember the order.

I also loved his Egyptian trilogy. Another set of 6 books by Maurice Druon became firm favourites and they introduced me to historical fiction where the events actually took place. I now read anything by Ken Follett, Elizabeth Chadwick, Sharon Penman, Anne O'Brien, David Gilman and Conn Iggulden. Sorry I couldn't give a one book answer lol.

If you liked the fault in our stars you should check out Nicholas Sparks books. They are wonderful and very emotive.

My favourite books are Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice. I love romance novels, I read these two (and the rest of Jane Austens books) regularly and love them every time. It is the emotions that they evoke, the way they make me think about my own relationships with my husband, friends and family and how relevant they still are today.

You should also try the five people you meet in heaven. Very thought provoking.

I've never tried pride and prejudice because it seems like a historical book. Historical books just don't seem to get my attention

SalmaSalim It was written in 1813 so is set at that time but it isn't historical, I would say it is very much a romance novel

MrsCraig yes and one of the most popular books ever written, I reckon at least 5 films/tv series have been made from the book. Who can ever forget Mr Darcy played by Colin Firth emerging from the lake in his breeches and clinging shirt!

I loved Faults in our stars by John Green. One of my favourite books I have read was All the light we cannot see by Anthony Doerr. I needed tissues for that one.
