Where is Best for Christmas Veg?
Ask a Question
Most places will have offers do you buy based on that or is there one place you buy from every year- which is best quality? TIA
am tempted to try tesco as I have an order placed but what is the longevity like do they stay fresh? thanks
the last few years we have been to Aldi not because it’s cheaper because it has longer dates on and last longer than from other supermarkets.
Faye1 you're lucky, my local Aldi is appalling for fruit and veg, even with a long date it can go mouldy between leaving the store and getting home
Dilligaf That is my experience too but it can be very good on occasion but quality generally is lower than most other supermarkets I find. I used to think Morrisons are best but they haven't been in my local store recently so would probably go with Tesco as the best quality veg overall. For frozen veg definitely Tesco as my local store is very large with a decent selection and some great prices.
BonzoBanana thanks guys I have been using aldi but am also finding they are well below par in just a dew hours so may have to switch, interesting to note its not just me experiencing this.....
I go to our local morrisons or tesco for ours, we've found that their veg always lasts long and is reasonably priced. We buy either the wonky veg or the value range.
love the wonky veg range but they have discontinued most online and whenever im in store there is never any- think they are removed as oppose sold out as its every shop grrrrrrrrrrr
OneeyedRaven strange as they always have them in our store. Maybe they didn't sell well in the area so they discounted them?
Aldi, veg on offer from Monday 16th Dec for 19p, never had a problem with their fresh vegetables. I will pop in and bulk cook some vegetable soup to go in the freezer, perfect timing as nearly run out. So handy for a quick lunch. But i'll also buy their vegetables for the Christmas period too.
Apparently M&S are doing very very low price veg this year, but there'l probably be none left cause they were on tv other night...
Stopped buying frozen veg when they all recalled it last yr over the bug thing,i had some in a well known pizza place salad section and was so ill i had to go to hospital.only buy fresh or tinned veg now☹
Generally Tesco as we find (they have already started their 29p Festive Veg) it's usually decent quality produce, unlike my local Aldi where we find their produce poor quality even thou it may be a few pennies cheaper.
I bought some veg from M&S yesterday at only 40p a bag, it’s their market price deal at the moment. It’s obviously selling well because I picked up the last bag of sprouts. The veg all looked good quality so will keep in the fridge to extend its life.
Ive seen Tesco are doing bags of potatoes for 29p or 25p sorry cant remember. They usually do a few select vegetables on offer
Yeah the M&S were all 40p,carrots a kg bag, girl in checkout just swapped it for me when id picked wrong one,a smaller bag which was on shelves, she was really nice about it.the sprouts 500g, the potatoes 1.5kg.
I have a look first, see what condition the veg is in,but m&S are very good quality, and are usually much more expensive.tescos quality is good too.
Went into Tesco in Dorchester today and they had quite a lot of veg at 29p. I bought some brussels, couple of cauliflowers and some carrots. They also had some large bags of potatoes. The cauliflowers were a little small but looked good quality.
Handy too that I had a £4 off £20 voucher to use and with clubcard points too it was a very cheap shop. Seemed like I had a huge amount of stuff for my £22/£18. Yes I'm so tight fisted that I try to spend close to the voucher value to get the most discount as a percentage.
