Best Cruise Holiday Companies?
Ask a Question
Looking into going on a cruise and wanted to know if there were any cruise companies to look at or avoid? In the summer holidays in the Caribbean is the plan. thank you
How much research have you done already? Where, when, and why do you want to go on a cruise, and what size ship? What’s your budget? How long for? Who’s going? A lot more info is required from you, otherwise you‘re just continually wasting other people’s time with these mindless travel questions.
Most companies do a variety of travel options and locations. Looking for companies to avoid and companies worth looking at. This is how far we are in the planning stages. Thanks for your enquiry.
I am happy to give you opinions on my personal experience but, until you edit your post to be specific on what your requirements are then it really is impossible to answer -too many answers that could be less than useless to you.
EmilyDeals Different companies excel in some aspects and are truly appalling at others. You have to state :- time of year? Age mix'/children? destination? fly or leave from Portsmouth? child friendly or more adult? drinks packages included? cleanliness important? where you DON'T want to go.........hope you see my point. You will get more people involved if you are more specific.
angemski summer holidays, Caribbean, 4 adults and 2 children under 12. Don't care where we travel out of, don't need alcoholic drinks, ofcourse we want it clean.
SaverDeals Then definitely go with Royal Caribbean - they are not cheap but they do believe in very good customer service. I mentioned Portsmouth departure because I've done a few and the next time I am definitely going to make it easier and get out of a car and get on the ship - no messing around at airports at both start and finish of departure and then again for return. We've also noticed that the airlines that RC use are better with in flight meals and drinks included in the price. (probably because Americans wouldn't tolerate the options that we Brits put up with) Don't dismiss the drinks package - soft drinks really do sting your pocket over a two week period so factor it into your budget. P&O food very good but I don't think they have the equivalent fun factor of RC for all the family. The entertainment on RC is amazing (look online and you will see what I mean) The food and eating options is also mind-blowing and I would defy anyone not to find an option and cuisine that would please them. Both P&O were very clean (only my opinion but I'm fussy) Wouldn't ever go on a Tui cruise again - opposite of everything above. I can only comment on these three but I hope it helps.
angemski thank you, this is all really useful and helpful advice. They will be the first place I look.
SaverDeals What's your budget, including flights, excursions and tips? And how many nights?
What age will the eldest child be when you fly? (Child fare or full fare?)
Best bet is to find an offer online that suits your budget then ring various cruise companies to see if they can better the price. Sometimes they might only match the price, don’t give up see if they can offer some incentive like free onboard spend or speciality meal.
Super advice thanks so much! I didn't realise they could lower their prices so this is great to know.
SaverDeals i make a note of all the offers and take a screenshot as proof, then ring and try to negotiate a slightly better price. You’ve nothing to lose. Last time we went on a Celebrity ship they couldn’t match a travel agent price but gave more onboard credit. Sometimes with Carnival cruises (P&O, Cunard, Princess and Holland America) you might get 5% off from working for a council, nhs or being in a union.
Don’t know but I really want to take my kids on the Disney cruise if only I win the lottery lol
Most cruise ships do the Caribbean in the winter and move back to the Med area in April, so your choice will be very limited as few operate in hurricane season.
- SaverDeals Good idea! There are so many good offers out there. Have cruised from Tui to Seabourn and the crew are the only thing you really remember, try to choose the cruise that is in a different port every day with the longest times on land. Some cruise ships are amazing but it is the ports you want to see. You don't need the biggest chandelier in the largest atrium to have the best holiday!
