Best Online Delivery Supermarket

Not many are taking on new customers at moment I have all supermarkets registered just in case couldn’t get a slot

I have come to this topic rather than start a new similar one and could not find the one where people were talking about loads of their shopping not being available. I think it may have been you Ann1984 who said they only got about 9 of 90 items.

My shop is due this evening and I always get an email early morning on delivery day saying what is not available. This is a shame because by then it is too late to amend order. I am not moaning or complaining about this because people with slots prior to yours will obviously get the goods but I had ordered a reduced kettle which acts as a brita filter too and some cartridges. The cartridges are so expensive but were down from £33 to £21 so I am really upset at missing out. Surely they knew they were out of stock before this morning?

But I was surprised that butter I ordered, block and spreadable, plus mince was not available.

Anyway, glad to have a delivery and small price to pay for a few shortages when you consider the war rationing.

Have been using Asda mostly for click and collect and not had issues trying to get slots, used them once or twice for delivery also and been good

I like the Waitrose service and if they replace an item it’s usually more expensive at no extra cost but I can’t often book a slot. Plus it’s free over £40. Most of my supermarket deliveries are from Morrisons which I appreciate but their replacements can be double the cost and charge you.

Tesco for me.

I have weekly deliveries coming until February, so I can't complain atm.

And I have a delivery saver thing which I got with Clubcard points, which is a bonus.

And as for the minimum spend, that just goes on wine

It's been a bit like a continuous horse race - they've all changed over the last 10 months. Asda were way out in front in the early part of the lockdown but their product quality reduced. Tesco had a great subs section but I struggled to get the slots. Sainsburys delivered some rotten products but they always had the slots. Some have been critical about Iceland but my local option has been very good - just not able to do the full shop there.

For me, Sainsburys has been the winner. Plenty of slots, you can get a quick refund for poor foods and they are really respectful of distancing.

Was surprised yesterday ,went to do my weekly shop (now fortnightly or less frequent ) in our local Morrisons , prepared for the worst .

Place was virtually empty (maybe 50 - 60 people in a large store ), shelves were all full no panic buying that I noticed . In and out in 10 minutes .

Perhaps folk round here are all getting their on line deliveries , or the panic buying is finished but I've never seen so few people in there at 3pm before or during the pandemic .

Wonder now things have calmed down what everyones opinion is now?

It's changed a little for me but I will definitely continue to get food shopping delivered. I've been into supermarkets for a few items but I really didn't miss the experience.

Iceland have been the best for me with sustained high quality but I could never do a 'full shop' with them. The only two items I wasn't happy with in the last 17 months were collected and replaced the same day so I can't fault their policy. Delivery staff - amazing

Sainsburys started strong but I've had a few rotten items and incorrect things delivered that I'd not ordered. (very difficult to prove that point -picker's word against mine when the receipt shows the correct order) Lately, there have been lots of same day expiry and other items with only 24 hours on them. Their point of contact has been pretty poor, for refunds, until recently. (message ignored to the point of having to spam them) That said, it's easy to claim back on Shopmium with their receipt system, Nectar points added and their staff have also been totally professional.

Asda started off very hit and miss with quality and stock but they've levelled out over the last 17 months and they are very efficient dealing with refunds. Their digital receipt is a 'mare though, having to be requested and not just printed off. This means Shopmium is not so easy to claim on. (unless I'm doing something wrong) Delivery staff have also been professional and friendly.

We’ve always done our main shop online with Tesco as I like their rewards system. I can use my points to pay for the Delivery Saver. Pre-pandemic we would go to Lidl and/or Sainsbury’s for specific things we liked but we don’t really miss going.

We’ll continue to use Tesco online as it’s the most convenient way for us to shop and generally have had good experience. Substitutions have been good and sometimes a better item has been given. Any issues like expired food have been rectified quickly and I’ve been given goodwill gesture vouchers so they do care about customer service.

It certainly isn't my local Iceland supermarket. They dumped someone's else's shopping on my doorstep once and that included frozen and when I ordered myself a year or so later they delivered it to my neighbour. However I've used most of the others and not had any problems but a personal favourite is Tesco because when they ran out of stock of something they would substitute a better item for the same price and some of those replacements were really good.

Delivery pricing varies a lot and now Tesco's are very expensive for deliveries and difficult to find a slot.

Waitrose is very good. Their minimum spend for free delivery is £40 and if they substitute an item it usually costs more but you don’t pay the extra.

Got to say Asda is a winner for me. Plenty of slots, their subs are logical and if something isn’t there you only get charged the cheaper price for a more expensive sub. I also like the ease of their refunds, 2 mins online if it’s a short date etc and never had them quibble. I recently found out that you get a refund on your delivery pass if you didn’t save money vs paying manually each time - I got £3 back which was a nice surprise. Morrisons in contrast charge you for the sub you received. I’ve also found they don’t honour a 3 for 2 price if one is missing or your sub isn’t in the deal, so you have to watch out for that. Biggest pain is you have to ring for any refunds/short date etc. Can take forever to get through to someone! Also their loyalty card change means most of the offers are instore only, and the online offers even when activated in the app you still have to manually enter a code! Tesco is rubbish near me, no slots and all of them are £4.50 even at 9 pm at night.

Waitrose, free delivery, decent substitutes and lots of slots available in my area!
