Hi hspexy I live in the highlands of Scotland and Orkney is not far from me. It's a lovely place to go for a holiday to see the I can't think of the birds name but they are black and white and have a colour break. Or there are some lovely walks. 🦉🦉

hspexy your welcome it's a lovely place you got lots of walks. Along the cliff tops. And there is a famous church not big. But it was made by the 2 war prisoners of war. The whole of the church out Side is covered in shell. 🐧 and you got sheep living on the beach. Because they eat seaweed. And there meat is famous all over. And it's lovely meat. 🐧

nicolajaynehend sounds very scenic, with lots of history and culture to take in. You’re very lucky to be there 😊

Think the birds might be puffins? Not a 100% though, I could be wrong. But yes Orkney is lovely. Beautiful place for a holiday, not sure I could live there, too quiet for me.

I liked Orkney, but not enough to live there. Personally I preferred Lerwick on the Shetland Islands.

It might be the best place to live(if you can cope with the weather) but it is important if you can find work too

I knew my area wouldn’t make it, even on a list of 1000 - too much crime

hspexy I'm surprised that London made to that list but there's pretty rural and posh areas away from all the 'excitement' in London. Whenever I travel by bus or train to the airport, I see loads of pure green rural zones which feels very peaceful.

And in those remote areas, there's a few people here and there who live there but I wonder what of, they obviously need to have their own means of transportation because buses/trains/metros aren't close to them. I guess, farming (meat, milk, etc) but only they'd know.

That's definitely a great hideout place with hardly anyone around.
